What SMIC?

Hi guys,

Curious as to what SMIC's people are running on their cars and what sort of output they're good for. Also, how much modification to fit?
Been looking on ebay and theres alot of godspeed ones, anyone running those? They look massive and look like there'd be a fair bit of modification required.

no seriously side mount...the front of the car is already enough of a sandwitch of things battling for air....why make it worse? And a lot of the big hp zeds are side mount equiped.... the ones from japtek were great...i have a pair...good quality and huuuge...and best of all...fit nicely. (not sure if they have any stock atm though)

 

I know. This isn't meant to be a SMIC v FMIC debate and I'd prefer the SMIC anyways. Yeah, saw those, but it looks like they're completely out of stock. Did you have to modify anything to get it to fit properly? Ducts?

 

i have a set fitted on the t/t,perfect fit,no mods required

 

i have a set on my zed as well, with very small mods needed to fit. But are def not a no mods required job on a stock zed.

 

If you're set on side mounts, I reckon get one that's not a hell of a lot taller/wider than stock but has a thicker core, apparently most if not all aftermarket and stock bars don't have a big enough side opening and ducting to direct air over the entire core of bigger SMIC's, from what I've heard anyway.
Saying that, have a look at the Greddy/Trust Side Mount Intercoolers if money is no object and you don't mind paying shipping from the states.

 

Go the japtek

I have a set and very easy to fit. They essentially are the same as the godspeed coolers. Yes they are taller but you can either remove the fog lamps(center) or the corner lamps to allow more airflow. the centre fog lamps can be replaced with ducts that are commercially available(look in the business section) or make some ducts as I did and removed the corner lamps. I also vented the plastic inner guards to allow more air flow

 

I have the stillen sidemounts with cast end tanks. Very happy with them, dearer than the japtek and ebay sidemounts, but massive cores, so can't complain.

Stillen And ASHSPEC massives
They both have good end tank designs and both come with ducts to suit .

 

I've got the ASHspec massives and they were a direct bolt on for the stock ones.

 

Not that those intercoolers aren't really good , but
