    hi guys
I am in the middle of putting glowing strip on EL panel. I have open the EL panel in two parts. I know i have to sand back the 300zx logo to the glowing strip on it.

But my Question is where is the inverter? Which will connect to the strip.
I took the pic of a small box which sits between the light.

Its got a switch say ON and some japaness on other side.
this is first time i flick it towards the ON side and now when the rear light turns on or off it makes trrrrrn sound.
Wonder if this is the inverter?
its got bunch of wires going into and coming out of it..

Can somebody shed some light plz.

Its probably easier just to get a new inverter, they are like $10.

    BUT...

If your panel is not an Altia then there will be no inverter and you will need to sand.

    or

If your panel is an Alita, then you don't sand, just remove the old EL panel and put the new one in. You can reuse the inverter but they are like 20 years old so its worth getting a new one.

This is a pic of my Altia inverter if that helps...

    First thanks for the information.
If i get a new inverter. I know it will be easy to connect it to the strip with two wires.

But how i am gonna connect the inverter to the rear light? so the strip will glow when i turn the lights on.

Just connect the wires to the Number Plate Light wiring(mine has been running reliably for 12 years, so I think it's working OK).
That switch you posted has far too many wires for it to be for an Inverter.

Do you have some idea. Whats that box with the on switch is for??

Sorry Mate, I've never seen it before(and it certainly isn't fitted to my 89 2+2 TT Man).
My only suggestion is trying to back-track the wires until you find what they run to(unless someone else can provide an answer).:zlove:

After re-reading the somewhat confusing original post, I am beginning to suspect that the offending black box might be an aftermarket "Reverse Warning Beeper"(which were very popular in Asian countries a few years ago).

    Alright Mr Chili,
here is the story with pics!
On the way back home from work, I flick the switch to on position. And made a right turn with pressing right indicator and WTF LIGHTS signal on dash glows up.
I thought my rear lights are gone now.
Made another turn with pressing indicator and the warning comes on the dash again..
So i was like WTF, stop the car, press the indicator and went to back of the car.
what i see is my red light is blinking like a indicator.
so if i press right the right red blinks and if i press left my left light starts blinking like a indicator. And on hazard light switch both red lights blink.
Here are the pics of the circuit.
    Right side

    and black box
    [IMG]

so why would somebody put that box for rear lights to perform like a indicators?????
    bloody big question mark????
