I know right? I really didn't expect them to make such a huge difference when i did mine, but i swear it looks at least 5 years newer just from those lights.

same with mine, i was blown away how such a small / cheap mod could have such an effect.

Fitted a custom parcel shelf with speakers in it. thanks to Slicktop_Beast.
    Fitted new MAF, PTU.
    Got my speedo needle working.
tightened up my wing mirrors so they don't shake on the highway.

    cut and buffed

Took the zed for a spin and took a few quick iphone pics of the car cut and buffed after fresh paint. iphone pics dont do it justice and cant use the old cannon as its been coming up with errors. Its Quite overcast today so you cant see anything close to the colours true potential but you get the idea. In the last pic u can see the clouds in the bonnet reflection, its not the paint.

Re-installed my chipped ECU, pulled the base timing from 15* back to 8* for safety, upped the base fuel pressure to 54PSI and upped the boost to 16PSI. This is with a little brake boost and 295's on the back :D

Just a quick experiment to see how it would go, AFR's are good and no pinging so it looks like its alright for now....runs bloody rich though.

00:27 onwards (all computer generated, not real..... :p)

Took a friend of mine for a spin last night, he's been in the car a million times and genuinely had a WTF moment when i showed him how it goes compared to before :D

Found out my BOV pipes were leaking pretty badly so i changed them for a spare set with new clamps, feels much better. Upped the boost to 17.5PSI, no pinging, still running really rich.

Started on the wiring harness swap. Eventually got the old one out. Layed it next to the new one, and even tho I paid for a RHD harness, I actually got a LHD :( Got an event next weekend so there was no going back. Dicked around with the firewall grommet and heat shielding so I don't have the big ugle loop of harness in the engine bay.

Now have to re-install all the air con BS under the dash and put it back together :(

Hmm, maybe its not a good idea to give me too many ideas... I did fail pretty hard at my parts importing gig :/

What kind of things are you after?

A lot of what I do is what I read on forums. But I need to have more equipment and knowledge of plastic manufacturing to make a lot of things I want...

    Egg ....

    Today.

I kicked my Z in the guts for the first time in two months, started instantly without the slightest puff of smoke.
Drove to the servo and filled up with BP Ultimate and checked tyre pressures.
Took it for a good blast on a deserted stretch of highway to blow out the cobwebs, pulled hard without missing a beat. Got caught in traffic on the way home on Smith Street because there was an accident ahead, sat in traffic without moving for twenty minutes while the temp gauge happily sat on normal, then left her in the underground garage crying please wash me I'm covered in dust you've not washed me in ages.

Fifteen years of ownership, never breaks down, never blows smoke or needs the oil topped up, never overheats or is a bitch to start. Just your typical maintenance like regular oil, and fresh coolant every couple of years, clean connectors and replaced the broken old ones. 100k service etc.

Maybe deserves a good wash and polish me thinks. :zlove:
Might even give the throttle bodies the first clean since I've owned it.

    Tomorrow maybe.

Spent 8 hours today rewiring the coilpacks with heatproof wire and running that back under the plenum to the harness...

Culled a few wires that werent needed and still need to shorten a few connectors that have been over designed with way too much length.

way more time consuming than I would have originally assumed -_-

Moved my zed from its normal place of residence (on the front lawn in the open air) to its new home. Its now waiting for me in a fully enclosed, powered, double workshop on a concrete pad with its own driveway. Wouldnt have bought a house without a decent shed haha.

I swear the zed looked like it was smiling when i closed the shed door.

    Mitch Has one gear: GO

I registered the old girl today.
Now back in the shed for another 12 months to retain your Km's while the rest of them die off

Plans for the year ahead are the same as the plan for last year (which I didn't get around to doing):
Larger injectors, NA power steering mod, leader gears, up the boost and a dyno tune.

Sorry to spam post in this thread but ive been busy. .

Started putting it all back together tonight.
couldnt get the plenum to line up and had a biatch of a time trying to get the bolts in but that was because of the turbo piping brackets on either side... damnit!

was pretty easy to run the coilpack wires under the plenum. Each coilpack has its wires cased in another tube of heat resistant tubey stuff. The result is a really uncluttered plenum...

the fuel rail delete is probably the second best thing you can do to the bay, especially with a chrome plenum.

I added a touch of red with the vac hoses to add a little somethin to the look of the bay. But not all vac hoses are red or it would have been too much red...

Still need to do a few more things before its time to start it back up again

    But the progress....
