Hi, I've spent the day stuffing around trying to get the FMIC from James GB installed (along with a few other things) but I appear to be screwed with the pod filter. I had an older K&N fitted that had no hope in hell of fitting behind the cooler, so I went and bought another one this morning that looked like it would fit (tight, but fit)....well after everywhere closed and I got to the point of fitting everything up, it turned out it also didn't fit. So before I go back again tomorrow to exchange the filter, what is everyone else using? Just fitting the POD to the end of the air flow meter, or using something to point the filter down more? Also, anyone else fitted the FMIC behind a 2000 model OEM bar? Did you have to trim a lot off the bar? Cheers Mark
APEXI POWER INTAKE....Fits like a glove, i made a couple lengths of metal to make sure it holds in place and doesnt vibrate against the FMIC, im running a tranny cooler (auto) so it all just fits. Also i have stock bar and the big cooler and its all good! Had to cut a bit but not much!
Damn I knew I should have bought one of those when they were going cheap. I wanted to wait until I knew it would fit.....stupid me. Cheers Mark
Well they do say size matters Thanks for the reply. The original K&N on my Z is probably about 3" round and 5 or 6" long. Is that the same size as yours? (Filter that is.. ) as I do remember seeing one that was a fair bit smaller in width, and decided the car wouldnt get enough air through it. Cheers Mark
Mine is probably 2 inches larger diameter than the MAF port (where the clamp goes) and tapers down to about 3 inches diameter. It's probably about 8 inches long "Waits for smart replies". It fits happily between the FMIC and the oil cooler.
I also had to mod the pipework to get the Apexi to fit: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=561640#poststop Cheers, Peter
Had already come across your post and bookmarked it Thought I would probably need it as a reference when trying to squeeze in the next filter I try. Cheers Mark
