Looks nasty, Alex .... how did that happen ... ???? What is the diagnosis ... ???? Feel for you .. sad to see.
The police didn't show up, about three tow trucks were there in no time. The Z is fully insured but I won't get a report until next week as Friday is Anzac Day. It's upsetting you know, but what can I do? So much work and learning went into this machine, monies money but time I'll never get back that's where it hits home.... It wasn't still on the market, people would rather buy a hunk of junk than a well looked after 300z, I've had this thing 6yrs and it's just reached the point where I don't know what to think. The market seems to be that buyers want mint for nothing and can't appreciate a 24yr old sports car for what it is... I couldn't buy half the car that the z is for the offers I had of 11k... so I guess if it gets repaired I'll keep it in all the Z's glory rather than settle for a run of the mill grocery getter.
Sorry to see As for the market, I guess it's just sadly part of the modders life. You NEVER get your investment back so you either have to count your losses OR keep it. From the buyers perspective, we've all heard "This was my baby" and "everything has been done right" only to get stung, so the market is what it is. The Zed will hit a low, but then over time, the good ones WILL hold value and eventually rise. Look at the 240's. Sure a rust bucket may be found here and there, but any good ones now cost MORE than a Z32.
That sucks mate, hope you at least get some decent $$ back and then you might be able to part it. Out of interest, how the hell did that happen?? I am lost looking at the photos
I am sure you don't mean to say LOL ? The cost of replacing both guards, the bonnet and front bar (and paint) and headlights, means the insurer will find it difficult to justify the repair. But a repairer or owner might see it differently. The photo seems to show the low Zed bonnet went under the guard rail (and stated by MC) So it could be all cosmetic and the low bonnet and suspension saved the engine and chassis. Looks like he avoided the posts. Here's hoping your baby will be repaired.
Glad your ok Overshoot.......? At least your o.k.! Makes it very hard to think about doing it all again when you actually count up those hours you spent into it, but you have a lot of support here at the forum to help you get through it. May possibly be R.I.P. for the Z, but I'm really glad its not an R.I.P. for you - Z's are replaceable but your not! You will get through this even if it seems daunting. Just ask for what help you need and see what happens. Hope you get the best outcome possible out of all of this nasty looking mess JC :zlove:
Sad to see man. On a positive note there are a good supply of parts available for you to stock up on for the repairs. Fingers crossed the chassis is not bent. Good to see you are safe and well.
Always looks bad at the scene but once the banged up stuff is off, probably not hard to repair (although I'm sure your insurer won't bother). Just do a buy out, doesn't look too hard a hit. Worst case scenario, gets written off, you buy it back & part it out - they're worth more in parts!
It was a "lol" at the consideration of it being repaired. If anyone saw the damage that was done to my Z recently that resulted in a write off, they wouldn't doubt this at all.
Did you notice the fact he mounted the square gutter? Suspension arms, wheels may be bent if you hit the gutter at speed and go over as much as it did which can be seen in the 1st pic. It also doesn't take much to ruin the shocks. I've been an idiot in the past and mounted a rounded gutter at speed and it still blew the shock which started leaking (albeit slowly) soon after.
OK had another look. Wheels, that will kill it. Wonder if he had the value of the wheels in the insurance?
