When i turn on my z and its cold a sort of high pitched wurring sound comes from underneath the car. i'm sure it is something to do with my clutch or gearbox because when i put the slightest amount of pressure on my clutch pedal the sound stops but when i release my foot it starts up again. i've noticed that once the car is warm this problem doesn't occur anymore. no noticeable problems occur while driving when its like this (eg. the clutch doesn't ride out or anything), its just an annoying sound. someone suggested to me that it is something to do with one of my clutch bearings but im not sure. can anyone help please. :><

    Mine too....

When my car is cold and not started for a few days, on initial startup I get a bit of chirping and whirring from around the clutch area. If I put my foot on the clutch, it goes away. Also, once the car is warm it dissapears. I've been told thats it either my Thrust bearing or some other bearing. The sound isnt too loud or often enough to bug me yet, but if ever my gearbox has to come off I will get it fixed. I dont think its a serious problem in terms of my gearbox or clutch exploding..:)Cheers

    Thrust bearing >>>

    >>> aka throw out bearing - it's on its way out, not serious but should be replaced soon. See Gavin Wood.Hey, how about joining us on a cruise?

Prolly more likely to be cluster

rattle, hence the reason it goes away when warmed up. Throwout bearings usually make noise when a small amount of pressure is applied to the clutch pedal and won't go away at diff temps. Try changing your gearbox oil.

i had the same noise >

bugged the heck out of me and i changed my clutch and throwout bearing fixed the noise for me. might be an idea if ya havent changed ya clutch for awhile to do that and the throwout bearing IMO just so ya dont have to pay for the gearbox removal in another few months..

    Wait until the clutch goes....>>

No need to change it earlier, unless the noise get a lot worse.
