Lost of people coming up with weird and dodgy schemes to import 2000 spec Zeds so here's one that is not weird or dodgy, just rather rare. http://www.j-spec.com.au/featured/1997-Nissan-Fairlady_Z-300ZX_2+2_Version_R-15753.html Made in 1997 so compliance is available and same specs as the 2000 spec cars.
its close but not close enough for me. Its missing the rear wing, side skirts, steering wheel, zx chrome rims and heaps of other stuff but I've been building my 2000spec for at least 4 years now:zlove:
$15,000 complied has to be a good price ... plus tyres, i presume ... ???? J-Spec Imports is our own Ben "Blipman", is it not ... ????? edit: good pick up, A-B.
IMO probably better to make your own 2k spec out of a '90 or something rather than go that. Otherwise do the hard yards - go live in Japan for a year and bring back a hottie of a personal import (2k spec z32 or otherwise)
Surprised no-one has imported a 2k Spec and swapped essentially everything into a pre 98 model... yet. :zlove:
Main problem is the cost to buy and ship the car. 2000specs are going for around $2,000,000 yen which equals about $20,000 AUD so it would be very expensive going that route but that's not to say buying everything part manually isn't going to be much cheaper. I know that for a fact.
Nice find! And looks a pretty good buy for that money. But the buyer would have to replace the airbag for compliance & you've got to wonder why the car doesn't still have the original! Also, I very much doubt the statement that series 4 production started in late '97 - the one I've got coming is the 4th last GCZ32 built in Dec.'97 & it's got none of that series 4 gear on it. Oh well, still seems a pretty good deal :zlove:
Digital climate was an option, I'm lead to believe in the later models you can just swap out the control units and pods though.
