Hey guys, Thought Id chuck up a quick thread about my weekend... Went to a drift practice night a Barbegello a couple of weeks back and had a ball, so I thought "F%# it why not give the comp a go?" So on Saturday I entered myself in the comp, it being not only the second time I have driven on Barbegello, but also my second proper drift event I rocked up full expecting not to make the top 32 (out of 40) and hence just do the qualifying and the expression sessions. Basically treated it as another drift practice... Anyway Went out and somehow qualified for the B Comp which was a shock! So now I had to compete in my first ever drift battle! Saw the draw and thought I'd check out the car I was up against... Unfortunately I found this car waiting for me: So lined up anyway with some major butterflies in the stomach! First round I was running, Took off and was having a really good run (for me) but ever time I looked in my rear view mirror there was a pesky yellow car behind me with plooms of smoke coming from the back! Started trying a little too hard and had a spin on the second to last corner. Lined up for the second battle (chasing) and was a little surprised to see how fast he was disappearing away from me at the straight, hit the first corner and for some reason my car gripped up in the first corner. The other guy had a spin and so I thought I might actually be ok... right up to the point where I spun in exactly the same place again, lol. Anyway was awesome fun. Easily the most fun I have had in a car in a long time! Got out in the expression session later and found a couple people of closer ability to mine and chased and ran from them for a little while which was good too. The Z performed beautifully all day even though I was driving it a bit hard and the temp gauge behaved itself too despite the warm weather. In short a good day had by all, and will probably enter in the next round as well for the hell of it! (might be in my 86 if its back on the road) Anyway here is a couple of pics of me doing the sliding thing! Anyway, hope that inspires a few of you, and thats with the HICAS still active!
Mate went to watch at Barbagello on the weekend and said he saw a white 300 drifting, he said he was surprised hahah, well done mate, great shots there too!
Well done Zzz . Its great to see other Zeds getting into and having fun with drifting. Thanks for the link in the other post Im yet to see Barbegello, hopefully in 08 DA will run one round over there again and WOKBURNER won't get married on the same day! so I can come over. Keep us posted with other events or days your are doing. Caz..
Thanks Guys Yeah Apparently I am the first z32 since the sureflow car! There was quite a few people who were a bit surprised, the number of times someone asked me how hard it was to drift something so heavy or to be careful that I didn't overheat was pretty amusing. Will do Caz! Haha, maybe if I get good any good I might throw some stickers on so it looks like I'm sponsored lol! Got anything magnetic so I can remove it for the street like my cams sticker-set?
