Ok Guys what do you think of these "Voltage Stabilizers" ?

I'm thinking it a small Aluminium box packed with a set of high capacity 30v capacitors to help flatten out the draw on the battery, what do you guys think?

    Why????WHY!??!?!

hehehe J/K. I was just interested in what they are. I'm sure their claims of more power are baseless but I'm interested to know what makes them tick. Call it curiosity ;)

horsepower and torque would be crap.. so would throttle response

theres truth to a grounding kit.. (minimal)
but your alternator does most of the work (already has voltage stabiliser in it) thats why your car runs just over 13v not 12v

if your voltage drops off when you put your indicators on, etc.. then you alternator is toast

    Worse?

I doubt a bank of capacitors added to the charging circuit could make performance any worse. True you would loose a little electrical energy since they arnt 100% efficient but I doubt it would actually make thing noticably worse. I'm inclined to think that the device is just a bank of caps because frankly I cant think of a better solution to the issue. Caps would respond better to short high drain situations than ur battery would.

Your right in a way, the alternator produces all the current but the battery is what acts as the voltage stabilizer in the stock setup. (I think) I imagine that the cap bank would just help the system deal with sharp current demands that perhaps the battery had trouble coping with. But hey, what do I know :S

The whole reason I posted was to get other opinions so why do you think it would be worse than a stock setup?

Fell free to correct me but I'm pretty sure that is wrong. The alternator supplies 14ish volts because the battery charges at 14.5 volts. The battery acts as a sort of "voltage stabilizer" when current demand is particularly high.

    Re: Worse?

Don't people with big sound systems have these sorts of things, so that when the 7 amps in the boot try and momentarily draw several thousand watts of power your headlights don't go so dim that you can't see where you are going!!

Yeah I reckon its the same theory as the massive capacitors that people use to help their stereos, only this one is designed to help the car's whole electrical system.
