They had pulp over Easter...... I re-fueled there, 20 lits only due to the high price of $1:68 / lit

( in 2, 3, or 4 years time when some re visits this thread that price will seem cheap !!!! )

There's fuel available at Lorne & ApolloBay with a choice of outlets so its no major drama, but LaversHill will be the last fuel stop until we return to Geelong..... if all you have left at Lavers is 1/4 of a tank then you'll be suckin fumes as you arrive at Geelong...... tad risky !
My main fuel concern is for those that have a few extra ponies under the bonnet, the GOR makes it thirsty work......


I'm doing a final run this Saturday so I'll check the station's out for prices and fuel dockets from the Bay onwards to Geelong and get back to you all with that next week......I'll also be checking out another route on Sat, whilst its longer the road is better and there are more servos on route.

 

I see some ppl are a tad annoyed at having such an "early start"........
My departure time will be around 6.00am on the day unless we decide to travel up the night before.... There's also another consideration that may affect the departure time regarding my other ZX

At this stage however Im leaving early and hope to film the "procession" as it moves along the Melb / Glng road from the over-passes and other spots & shots I have in mind for a GOR 08 Vid which I'll need a hand with ( great with a camera but shyte at 'uploading' stuff). So whilst I actually wont be at the starting line I will be 'about' as we head to Geelong.....

I only have the one cam corder atm so if anyone has a spare please let me know and I may be able to run a few extra cameras on the day..... mine will spend much of the GOR glued to the windscreen of the zed.
What I'm after is someone trusting enough to post down their vid camera (registered post only) prior to the run for shots they wont normally get. Yes its asking alot but the end result would be worth it, the camera would be returned at Torquay for the owner to continue their own filming of the run.

Things I want to try:
1/ filming of the cars along the freeway from over-passes
( 2 cameras would be better for different angles )

2/ filming of the cars as they are overtaken
( get the lead car to roll off to 80kph and then cruise past the line filming... again 2 cameras, one facing foward & one 'out the side')

3/ filming as the procession passes by
( low to the road shots, with 2 cameras we get more footage )

4/ short interviews with members and their rides at the stops
( username, car details on mods current or future, etc)

5/ footage of the GOR ....
( dash cam , its allready set up for this and can be swapped to other cars )

yeah, its on your left just after you pass all the surf shops. About 2min from point danger meet point.

 

I like this idea, would be great to see everyones rides and stats on mods and what not. Also get to see everynes faces as well.

I'll meet everyone from Melbourne on the Highway into Geelong (At about 9:30? if not I will wait), at the McDonalds near the Ford Factory (Before Corio, and North Shore). Saves me driving up to Melbourne and back, anyone who wants to meet me there is welcome , i'll grab some breakfast before. Once I see everyone, I will just spin around and join you guys.

Sorry mate, I was gonna call you last night. I'm now working 3 extra shifts this weekend (last night, tonight & tomorrow night) so I can't make it down.

Is there anyone else with a camera that can help out?

 

With R-comps on you may want to rethink that if it rains. Semi-slick tyres are "interesting" to drive in the wet, with aquaplaning over the smallest amount of standing water. I really want to bring the Zed on the cruise but if it is raining I might have to re-think and bring the Merc.

 

i dont think it should rain, but friday is apparenlty raining, so i really hope it doesnt continue into the weekend

Yeah I know, the GTO is the back plan if there's rain. I actually haven't found the R-comps too bad in the wet (mine are skinny 225's and 245's), on wet road but non standing water they're fine, however puddles get the heart beating harder if they are really large.
