First Of all I'd like to thank Ray for hosting, and Russ for organising the event. And of course every1 that turned up. Thought I'd start the ball rolling with a couple of pics. And finally the finished product* *Those that stayed til the end might have seen putting back together my lights wasn't as easy as taking them apart. Basically I needed a combination of clamps and glue... and there were no clamps at Rays, and when I got home to attempt to finish it off, I had no glue Borrowed some glue from work, and got some clamps on it right now. That last picture was taken this morning, and it looks nice from that angle however, it had busted apart during the night. Anyways I'm buggered. I'd like to write more but I gotta put the car back together now.
woahhh, dude take it all apart again, clean every single little bit of glue offf....then get some nice new glue, put it all back together and some cloths to cover it and cardboard on top with clamps holding it all together....leave it over night for the glue to really set nicely.... here is my final product...very happy with it, very sexual, exactly what i was wanting. p.s thanx to every1 that was there especially to those who organised...
firstly thanks to ray for hosting and supplying drinks, and thanks to everyone who lent a hand, nice meeting everyone again.. so now.. i know a couple of you were interested to see what my end result would be.. its alot redder than i thought it would be.. or even wanted.. also big thanks to patrick (DBcar) for comming through with the pin stripes, thanks mate what you guys think? left or right? which looks better.. im liking the left better on the left is clear defuser in the brakes, and on the right is the normal OEM red defuser incase your wondering how did i get clear defuser to look red?
interesting....i know pictures dont do it justice, but it looks interesting to see in person... maybe try to get a lighter reddish/pinkish paint, and see how it comes out???
Yeah I took the clamps off too early just b4, and it popped out again. So I've cleaned out the garage and parked the car in there. And am going to leave the glue to set overnight. The weather's just been a little crazy today. Mostly fine, but with big dark clouds, and occasional light shower. My nice black car is brown now. Mafi-Zed, It's hard to tell from the pics. But It looks like you have the diagonal pattern on the indicator, so what Krause is saying about the matching... doesn't neccessarily apply. You could try & spray a light coat of white over the red, and see how much lighter you can get it.
the diffuser in mafi-zeds are just used for templates to see what he should do with the lights....he will be changing the diffuser so hes not asking about the diffused pattern rather the colour of the break light...
Thanks to..... Ray for hosting and all the hard work he done cutting the lenses out for everyone,Russ for arranging everything it was a good day thanks guys.Got home about 9;30pm F**cked.
I think we all ened up the same way TOTALED!!! yet it was a great day/night, all lights got finished without any major hick ups. Keep the original lense!!! Hey Trav....they look so close to each other I'd keep the original red lense.....purely because they are designed for the globe positions with the added circular changes in the diffuser pattern etc etc......or try & sand the red back & have another go at trying to get the colour you were after!!!
