Yea 105 is extremely low and indicative of a bad motor... one of my cylinders is on 120 and shes blowing some smoke. MoulaZX
105 does sound low, but there is a lot of variation between compression gauges. The differences between the cylinders is far more important. 105 one one gauge might be 120 on another.
True, but he mentions 105 on all cylinders, from memory mine was about 140-150 on 1-4 and 120-130 on 5 and 6. Could have also just been a typo and he meant to say 150 like d3coy said... MoulaZX
yea its ether low or a mistake. coz he deff wouldnt be asking $1.3k for a motor with compression at 105
It has low compression, the engine was advertised previously at a higher price. Ozz built a evil engine for his zed, put that in and this is the old motor.
oh ok, still, at least if it has low comp its EQUAL, is rather have a equal compression engine then a few 105's and a few 140's ..
Thanks guys for your comments, but this engine (although it is a little tired) has been advertised as a running engine or ideal for a rebuild. Buying a second hand engine comes with unknown risks, that is way I had a compression test done by the mechanic removing the engine so that I could provide any buyer an accurate assessment. As I said the engine was in good running condition and meticulously maintained. Having just rebuilt an engine I known the amount of time and expense that is involved, and not everyone can afford to take their daily drive off the road whilst their engine is being rebuilt. That is why, to me it made sense to buy a second hand engine to rebuild, and when completed, swap them over and sell the engine removed. Lets face it this engines are around 20 years old and are going to need to be rebuilt at some stage. Anyway if anyone is in the same boat that I was in, and can't afford to take their Zed off the road for more than a week, consider buying a second hand project engine. For those of you who think that $1,300 is too much for a VG30DETT motor, then perhaps you can't really afford to be driving a 300ZX. Again, only genuine buyers need to reply. Cheers, OZZ
