Today i fitted the Teins i bought, which were ment to lower the car .8" Rear & 1.3" Front, and i got a shock when i saw that it was preety much the same heigh, maybe a 5mm drop from what the mechanic told me.
Now im dissapointed because i didnt wait till i buy a rattle gun so i can undo the freaking bolts myself and i paid $250 to have the springs fitted (now i regret it). I know it will drop over time...but i doubt that it will drop 2cm. I dont know what to do, wait a bit see how much it sags then try and take them back to John at UAS and try to get my money back, or should i fork out more money to get them compressed ?
This investment was the biggest mistake ive ever done...:( $600 gone out the window for what...nothing, just for some nice looking green springs.
Anyone have any ideeas on what should i do ? How much would it cost me to get them compressed ? is it worth it ?
Il post some before and after pictures tomorow for you guys
    Arrrggghh with another $800 i couldve had coilovers:mad: :( :( :( :(

Hate to say it mate but stick with them for a while save some cash buy the coilovers from a GB and sell the springs on Ebay or something. This is why most go for the coilovers so you can adjust them to suit the look or performance needs. replacement springs very rarely give the desired result. Drive around for a week or two and see how they go they will bed in and soften and sit lower after a few weeks my coilovers even did that and had to be reset to the corretc height etc

    Good luck with it mate

Prepare for the fact that the springs may be doing as advertised but your old springs were sagged enough to make almost no difference over the new ones.

Thats a very valid point ltd and confirm that as being correct.

forgive me if i'm wrong , but weren't you told this would probably happen? and whoever did your springs saw you comin a long way off, then again its happened a couple of times with me, mainly wheels though, as soon as they find out it's a zed you see the dollar signs light up in their eyes, rippoff bastards
hope the next thing you get done works out better
    cheers

    i told u that 3 days ago

Sad to hear this, but i did tell u the other day in your s tech post that this would happen. The problem as i stated a few days ago is you didnt take into consideration that your springs will have drooped and you will not get the drop height mentioned with the springs as that height is if you had new springs, hope u work it out though !!

i've sat my car next to a tein coilover lowered TT and it's basically the same height. now the TT is @ the lowest 'legal' height with 100mm of clearance. if you're lowering a zed for the best look, you really need to dump it lower than what you're legally allowed to.

    I lowered mine 1 inch

Made a big difference to its look. With the stock 16" wheels, the standard height looked fine. The 17" mags with lower profile tyres made the zed look like it had been 'raised'.

The front bar sits around 12.5cm off the ground and the zed looks great. Any lower and it would be very unpractical and would look a tad on the silly side IMO. Lowering below the legal limit looks good for track and drags but on the public roads its more a case of 'wtf?' (especially when you see cracked and chunks missing from frontbars).

Yeah i know you did and now i regret i didnt listen, i was too drawn in by that picture on the tein website of the white zed, looked so damn perfect, and it was supposedly lowered with the S.Tech's.
Oh well, right now i cant really do nething, just wait and see what happens then save up for coilovers.

Save yourself the heartache and just go with what you have now.
Firstly, you now have brand new springs on all corners. That should be making a huge difference/improvement to your handling and ride quality.
Secondly, the amount of height reduction you were hoping for is negligable at best. To gain any really noticable height changes, you would need to drop it further than that, and that would lead you into constant problems with the Police(and definitely much more expense), not to mention the impracticality of having a very low Z32(there is almost nowhere you can drive it without incurring damage).

Completely agree, my springs are saggy stock ones and it is bad enough with that, I scrape on most speed bumps.

Keep the teins, the 'drop' value they quote is from brand new stock springs, not saggy 16 year old ones :p I very much doubt that UAS will give you a refund, I wouldn't! They will slowly droop a bit as ZX2NV said, if you still don't like them after a month I'll buy them off you for $100 :D

    It takes about

4 hours to install new springs diy, $250 is about right for a shop fit.

How long do you think it takes to remove and install four shocks and springs? $250 equates to about 2.5 hrs @ UAS prices.
BTW, there aren't many workshops over here that accept stubbies as payment(the bartering system has collapsed in favour of cash):rolleyes::rolleyes:

I dont know about you guys, but whenever they see i have a zed, i can see the $$$ in their eyes. They all winge..."ohh their so packed you cant do any work on them" , "hard cars to do work on"...pisses me off. Thats why i try and do everything myself but the suspension i couldnt even undo the shock bolt in the engine compartment, and i had noone to help me

    hey mate
sorry to hear about whats happened. i was looking at going down this route a while ago, and the reasons above are what stopped me. i wasn't sure how much they would sag, and the place i was going to buy them from said the same thing.

hang onto them for a bit and get the money for coilovers, people are always after new springs, you'll be able to sell them on here if not ebay. be prepared to lose a bit of money though on the new price etc.

i think you may also find that coilovers are a better way to go in that most people who have their cars dumped, don't want their zed sitting that low all the time as it isn't practical. coilovers will give you the ability to sit low, but also the flexibility to have the car sitting at a practical height.
    just some food for thought.
    cheers
    Jay
