Looking for a professional Car Detailer on the Gold Coast.

Need to have two Zeds fully detailed: engine bay, underbody, interior, and duco cut and polished ... the full monty.

Appreciate any recommendations of jobs well done including an indication of price.

Wow far out Baz!!! Why the treatment all of a sudden?

That will sting you alot of green backs! And atleast one day per car for the full monte on each.

Do it your self If time permits. It's hard to find a 'good' pro detailer. Most will run a cut compound but not follow through with it. You must come down in grades gradually until you are at wax level to achieve a 'worth all the money' result. This will result in a swirly sh!t of a job. When the light hits your panels it looks terrible, much worse than an un-cut polish job IMO.

Anyway I'm not up there so I can't comment further in this thread really. If you decide to DIY, you know where to find me :)

    Cam,

A progression of disillusionment, disappointment and more over the past 12 months ....

Have not made any final decision and may well not .. but thought that I might as well get both machines in tip top nick just to provide for all options ......

ERIK ..... will keep you informed of any leads unearthed via this thread and my own enquiries

Had mine done at the expresso place on Ferry Road. How professional you might ask? well they don't pretend to be something they aren't. I was happy with the job however. They have different packages available. Not the best perhaps but I feel you could do a lot worse somewhere else.

Doesn't seem very expensive...I would if expected more of a slick job. Especially for the full kit...

Edit: but then again in re-reading you don't get much.... All they do to the paint is quickly run the buffer over it and chuck some wax of it??? That's almost a 'regular' weekend job for me :br:

Eh take it or leave it, I was happy with their work. First time I've ever let anybody other than myself detail the z. I wouldn't say chucking wax on it is the procedure. Why not call them and ask? For further detailing I've no idea as most places have closed down.

Fair enough, just first impressions when these places use fancy words to describe the steps means its designed to capture the less knowledgeable crowd that dont know the actual steps needed to get a well worth it job.

You say you were happy though so that's at least something.

As I said earlier, it should take at least two days for two cars. If they shampoo your carpet whats going to happen, your going to get your car back that's all damp inside? Plus if it doesn't dry/air out properly after that job you will get the worst damp 'old' smell ever!

I've said this a couple of times in others post but here is my list if I was to do the full SHABANG for a show. (in order)

    1) Thorough rinse (pressure hose)-two bucket shampoo, one with fresh water to rinse sponge the other for shampoo. This includes a separate wash for the wheels and arches.

    2) Dry off with a drying towel (stop using chamois, they scratch your paint!)

    3) Trim treatment using a good amount of leather oil....out of all the stuff I've tried, I get the best long lasting results from this. And a good amount of tire shine applied to tires. I use the non-foaming silicone based stuff.

    4) Clay bar the entire body.

    5) I will then make a judgment on if it needs a cut if not (I keep up with my paint care so it usually doesn't) But if so, I will usually use 3 grades of cut, slowly working down till deep scoring has gone with a high density foam pad. This is using a variable speed orbital sander with pads fitted.

    6) Swirl removal and Polish using a mid density foam pad

    7) Paint conditioner or pre-wax using a soft density pad

    8) Wax applied lovingly by hand :zlove: then removal

    9) Wont get into details, but then I will detail the engine bay, and pretty much vac the interior, wipe down trim, and clean windows. That's based on mine though, some might require a de-grease in the engine bay/carpet clean.

For what I just listed, if i go with the cutting process it would be a two day affair on one car!!! If not I could do it in a long day with out cutting.
