    First post here :)
i've done alot of searching but i have a few specific queries i hope the technical grand master around here can help me with :D

building a 1000fwhp block for drag racing

we have a cima VG30DET block, so its somewhat confusing what parts interchange, im a VG virgin!

    A. i understand the z32 exhaust manifolds gaskets do not suit. however looking at the z31 SOHC gasket it looks like it should suit the round ports. i need both exhaust gaskets so i can get some flanges laser cut. i have been unable to find any blank flanges to buy.

    B. does the lower manifold for the valley, interchange between the DETT & DET blocks. or can it be adapted somewhat easily? a custom plenum will be made, however fitting injectors/rails and nitrous jets to the DETT manifold looks like a much easier job

    C. im 99% sure that the cima and 300zx auto share the same bell housing bolt arrangement. but is the starter position the same?

    D. i understand AMS produced a C4 to RB/vg(RE403A) auto bellhousing adapter plate, however they no longer have it available. does anyone have one they wish to sell, or know where i might be able to get one. i know of a turbo400 complete bell housing, but i would prefer not to use such a heavy box

    E. do the DET & DETT share the same inconel exhaust vales? standard valves will be used in the build however i understand there was a ?poor quality? somewhere along the line.

any answers to the questions would be really appreciated
    - DIM :)

Twin cam VG blocks are all the same, the heads are different but both will bolt up to any twin cam block. VG30DET gasket sets were available from Nissan by order from Japan last time I looked.

If I was doing what you are, starting with a VG30DETT emgine would make more sense, there is zero aftermarket for the DET.

Just a friendly side note. I have two custom intake plenums designed to fit on a vg30det engine. I've got some pics of them somewhere. Got them with a vg30det motor i bought a few years ago. Never used them, and someone had spent too much time on them to ditch them. Ones a mimic of the z32 plenum and the second a box manifold with side port intakes.

Ill get the pics for you. You can have them for cheap if useful. All made from aluminium. Might make some things easier for you...

Thankyou, i spotted that one but dellow informed me that it is not a plate that bolts between box and factory bell, but a complete cast bellhousing and wouldnt work. RB26 with the re0403a auto share the same box as a ZTT so any adapter that will work for a 26 belhousing will be able to work with a VG bellhousing also :)

    THANKYOU!:)

    cheers!
do you have a vin number i can give to Nissan, my local parts chimp will give me a dumb look when i ask for a part by name.
im curious why you say not to use DET block, because they look better to me? short of pistons and rods bearings and studs(which interchange) what other parts are there, everything external will be custom made.

Send me some pictures!, hopefully its somthing i can adapt nicely and save some time. Thankyou!

Orrr, if 'dimi' doesn't want them, How much? :p

Here's the pics. I like thd box manifold. Needs to be finished and could do with a few trumpets. But should be good for high pressures. The z32 mimic one looks to had been used at some stage in it's life. Alloy mig welded from thd looks of it. And the throttle body mountings look the same as the z32 size. Overall could be tidied up to make pretty. But as it stands it's functional.

    And here's the pics.

No, blocks are basically the same. Nissan part number for a VG30DET full engine gasket set is 10101-71V28. Nissan parts bloke can bring that number up to confirm.

That wing style of manifold, altho roughly made, has a surprisingly strong attraction factor to it.

the box style one is essentially the same as what i am planning.
but i much prefer a radius on the ports where they enter the runners. the distribution of the air in my mind looks somewhat counter productive. but you can never really tell until its flow benched.

the seccond one, looks... agricultural :D

    appreciate the photos :)
