A flurry of activity later (sorry, no photo's), I have bought another compressor (with seized clutch), received a replacement for it (thanks Laurence), more couplers (this time in blue), and put everything together.

Last minute working out where BOV lines go (with NA balance tube), and you would think that it's all ready?
Well in a word - no.
Yesterday I worked out the alternator wasn't working. So, 4 hours later, I've bought a new battery and swapped the alternator out.
You may remember I made the decision at the beginning to use the NA alternator because I knew it was working. Well, it turns out that was the wrong decision.
Maybe it was the loom that made the difference? Remember, I swapped that too.

    What's next?
The exhaust is literally wired up for now until I can drive it to an exhaust shop.

The timing isn't right yet, and may be an issue due to the UR UDP. For those that remember the other thread, the timing mark isn't in the correct place, but I have worked out where it should be.

The idle is also hunting, but Chris tells me that's the tune.
I have to wire up the EBC (it's all plumbed in otherwise, just no power to it yet)
I also have other goodies to install.

    Still more to come...

^^^ Split my initial post into 4 as there was just too many photo's in the one. That will explain why comments are there out of order. Sorry.

Car isn't 100% yet as there is still a boost/vacuum leak, but it can still move under it's own steam. This is how it looks now:

I'm pretty happy with the fitment of the new wheels:

^^ In the last shot above you can see how the exhaust is held up with wire. I can't get to the exhaust shop yet where the hangers need to be welded on.

The cause of my boost leak turned out to be on the inlet side of the passenger side turbo, which I guess makes it a vacuum leak.

Fixed it with one of these:

Was an absolute pain to get to. Had to use the following:

It's been a while, but this is what I've done...

The passenger side turbo intake flange wasn't flush, which was the cause of my vacuum leak. Dennis (sandy69) Helped me fix it, and suddenly I could 'mostly' hold boost.

Got the tune done at Garage 101. $1100, but well worth it. Car runs beautifully now. There's still a small vacuum leak, and I have to find it, but the tuner has programmed around it, so it's safe.

The tuner couldn't get the Gizmo EBC working, so it's just a fancy boost gauge for now.

324rwhp @15psi. 248Kw. Not the 300Kw I wanted, but close enough for now.

Got the exhaust hangers fitted. $120

Today got the Air-con regased with Hy-Chill. $275, but it's very cold.

Still have to do a bunch of work to fit the adjustable steering components and big brake bits, but at least I can drive her around.

I will put another front bar on that will have to do the job for now, but eventually I will get 2K spec items.

At this moment I think I've spent about $6500, but that's a guess.

He mentioned he liked to tune for 8 hours. I don't know if that is what he did for me, but I reset the trip meter before it left my place, and had 64 km's on it when I jumped into it the next day.

Yes, $1100 was the tune, fixing an issue with my boost controller (he replaced it with a manual one after he couldn't get it to work), and spark plugs.

  9. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

$1100 isn't so bad. Why were you expecting so much power?

  10. Vader

    Vader Just another guy

Well, it's not so much expecting, more like hoping. And it's a nice round number.

  11. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Sure, and I'd like my car to be just three digits when I take it to a weigh bridge but it's just not in the cards.

Sunday I'm going to try and get the front discs and pads replaced, the pcv hoses replaced, and a vacuum leak fixed.

Haha. It took me a loooong time just to get the new discs on.

So now I have TT callipers and 324mm slotted discs, plus new pads. PCV hoses maybe next Sunday.

    PCV hoses done.

Thinking about going back to the tuner. I'm getting < 300 Km's to the tank (local small street driving, zero highway)

sounds like your zed is running rich, could be the reason for the lower power figures aswell. do you have a copy of your tune bin?? shoot it this was ill have a look for you .. alot of tuners will tune zeds super rich as they are to scared there motors are going to hand grenade!!

Nope, don't have it or Nistune software to load/copy it.

Current plan is to take it back to the tuner later this year or early next year.

Apparently there is a tuner in Bibra Lake (ish) that is pretty good - can't remember the name though.

download it via ecu talk or one of the other interfaces before you start tuner shopping !! are you just running a socketed ecu?

I have Nistune board, but haven't done anything else just yet.
