yeah but you have also changed the engine configuration. Wont be a walk in the park but wont be a nightmare. unless you try getting it over the pits with "oh those are just extra heaters(turbos) so its nice and warm in winter" lol!

so is anyone going to tell me how you fit a v12 with 4 turbos in a cramped engine bay that has a v6 twin turbo....

btw making it pumping out 650rwkw + out of a zed, is that more of a project to make a non daily driver...as i take it that sort of power wouldnt even be usable....

    register

they will register it no worries with the 5.0 n/a in there id say. but as you know the difficulty will arise if you decide to FI it

    well i have a V12 - and a 300zx... but not together

the V12 is in my XJS-convertible and is in preperation for either a twin turbo or supercharger.... havent decided yet... plus still saving the cash.... but im hoping for about 700Hp its has about 350 at the moment.

but putting one of these in a ZED... all i can think of is the problems - is it even goin to fit??? or u could put it in the rear... 2 birds with 1 stone - the first V12 MR 300zx, lol :) :) :)

    good luck mate

i reckon id have no trouble using that power..... u'll just have to buy tyres in bulk.... maybe 50 at a time.

    More cylinders

means the higher HP isnt as nasty to drive with. Thats what Ive been told in the past. eg 700hp sr20 will not be as friendly to drive as a 700hp v12

Someone correct me if Im wrong

  8. MAX

    MAX Ex Zedder

    you are correct

call it lazy power. Also far less stress.
Imagine Arnie in his hay day pulling an aeroplane in the mr universe comp, think how hard he has to pull.
Now imagine 100 average guys pulling the same plain far easier.

    A 700hp V12 will last 50 times longer than a 700hp sr20 also.

yeah it comes down to power per cylinder, more cylinders = less power per cylinder = less stress on each component.

also v12's have an even firing order and less degrees's of rotation between power pulses which means less strain on the crank, lighter flywheel and better engine harmonics.

I work on v12's all the time, great engines :)

ive heard the jag V12s are problem after problem........most supposivly put in a chevy......u have any probs willy?

  11. rollin

    rollin First 9

    nope

no they are just the same people that say the VG is the most unreliable engine out there.

    i dissagree on both counts

    okay....well ur the mechanic.....

i know why most people thing the VG are trouble some, but the reasons they might be is due to its compact size resulting in alot of heat so you need to replace things like hoses belts abit more often...but as most of us know they are great if treated and maintained properly...

what is the jag v12 reason for being not so good?..just outta curiousity.....i mean obviously a good treated cared for would go as a dream, but whats the norm perception of it not being good..\

I have heard of issues where the cylinders where never machined completely round, bent crankshafts etc, etc. Are there any truths to these things? This may be in regards to the V8's and not the 12's, can't remember...

    v12's

the jag v12's are a beautifull motor, unfortunatley they suffer similar problems to the VG in terms of poor maintance. fuel hoses split after 20 years and can lead to engine fires.

what you have heard about bent cranks and poor machining is misinformation,

the later v8's had some problems with the nikasil lining in the cylinder bores because they are alloy blocks without steel liners, just the nikasil coating. in the uk and america more so than australia where the fuel contains more sulphur.

the only other v12 problems are with the ignition and wiring.

thax for the info.......ive heard like car nuts saying they are crap, but then most of ur nuts also say the vg are bad.....lol.......they thing they know there cars!

funny thing is ive seen a jag on fire.....it was on parramatta road near the city and its engine was in flames......so now i know why that was

Showing a mate at work this thread and we've been talking about how awsome it will be.

Just wondering and things like "chassie" and "center of gravity" came up.....

is this monstor going in the engine bay, or are you somehow converting to mid-mount so it handles right?

If you have read all of Andy's posts in relation to the project you would know that the V12 actually ways LESS than the VG30...

  20. rollin

    rollin First 9

well less than a TT vg anyway.
