he thinks its all to do with Air flow meter, he says its running fine now and boosting but its detonating and pinging quite a bit and says its not best to drive at the moment with out risk of damaging the motor, so he's going to borrow another air flow meter to test it then go from there.
He says when he plugs it in to the dyno it has bit of a panic or revs go all funny when dyno tuneing it, not sure exactlly what he meens.
At least he's being real supportive as he knows how much I have spent and working it in around other jobs.

any way, my 2 cents, I'll be rideing my bike home today, best $200 I ever spent - the bike I meen.

    Cheers

What exactly does he mean about.....

Funny as in? try telling him to check the fuel damper or fuel pressure regulator as it might not be letting enough fuel in.

    Max:thumbsup:

yea I'll pass that on to him, I dont get it tho, the cars getting 250km to.

300km to a tank and he says its running leane, how does that work?
Beats me, but I hope its not the AFM $750, I almost had a hearta stroke.
The dyno part he said the revs go up and down and I think the car goes sluggish he said hes never seen it happen before, I'll get more info tomorrow.

Im goin to stop by the bottle shop and pick up beer and ride home on my bike so I can drink the stress good bye.

    Cheers

I dont think its the AFM....

When your car is idling can you smell fuel from the exhaust? I put my money on it being the Fuel Damper as my car had the same problem of the revs going up and down by 50-75rpm. Fuel economy was ok still.

Could also be the fuel pressure regulator....it could be alot of things:LOL: but i believe its getting a lack or inconsistent fuel delivery. But trying another AFM is a good start.

Also dont drink beer:thumbsdown:, get a proper drink like bourbon:p

    Max:thumbsup:

    with the going funny

my zed does that too, it's because when they disconnect the source of vacuum from the fuel pressure regulator it no longer gives the correct pressure, resulting in it

Umm they've obviously checked timing right?

mainly for the detonating side of things...

If you have an "aftermarket" Jap chip, they regularly add timing into the equation, to accomodate for Jap fuel being like 110Ron...(or somewhere in that region)...

If not.. then check the timing and your ECU for mods to it. My vote may lay with that, but not knowing your full situation, that's just from experience.

    My 2cents. Keep us informed.

Has he checked for all leaks in the engine bay?

I know it sounds simple ,but if you've got a significant tear in a pipe anywhere before the turbo's then your sucking unmetered air, which would cause the detonation, coupled with that hose which was loose, would equal a very low boost pressure. Also unmetered air will cause the idle to hunt around has the extra air will cause it to rise slightly and then the ecu will drop it, etc, etc.
I dunno, just dosn't sound fuel related, and it dosn't sound MAF related.

    My 2 cents.

    Also check the timing belt

If it's out by a tooth or two, the spark is not orrectly co-ordinated with the piston. Could be firing to early, causing the detonation.
    See Ya,
