What is the purpose of the uni joint on the manual gear selector shaft? Mine gas lost the bearing caps so would I be able to still change gears properly if I weld this solid? So its one piece with no uni joint?
No you won't be able to change gears. The shaft moves in an arc in 2 different directions to allow all gears to be selected, if you weld it solid it won't move anywhere.
