I've done a lil suspension work so mines pretty good handling wise.. But when it was standard it had a tendency to understeer, but when you says its "ploughing" around the corners are you taking them off throttle?? that might be a factor as ofcourse you are ment to brake prior and "drive" around the corners.
na i know not to power off through a corner it was really bad before the new tyres but now it only does it if i really push it. what did u do with your suspension
Still sounds normal.... If it only happens while your pushing it. I've driven plenty different Z's and all the ones i've driven with stock suspension will understeer under heavy throttle on a tightish corner(running standard wheels and standard size tyres) . Maybe im wrong tho, prolly someone else who is more knowlageable in this field should answer your query. I'd prefer understeer on some cars it makes it easier to find its cornering limits. What i've changed susp wise on my Z is very minor but it has made a shitload of difference on the street. going to coilovers soon. but this is what i've got atm. Koni damper adj shocks. RSR springs (made the most differnce). Adj front camber arms. and a front strut brace.
see im not too much a fan of under steer so long as the front is pointing in the right direction keeping the arse under control is the easy part. mind you i find my car loves to through the arse end out but compared to my old falcon its a piece of piss to bring it back
A little understeer in fast corners is normal for stock zeds I only experienced oversteer in a fast corner (140kmh) for the first time at QR last week due to my modified suspension: adjustable camber front and rear adjustable castor front D2 racing coilovers set near fully stiff rear and soft up front. Prior to these mods, the car would generally understeer into that turn.
Its normal for any car if you go into a corner too fast. Generally street cars are set up to understeer as its easier to control than oversteer. "Ploughing" tells me you've gone into a corner waaaay too fast. First rule of trying to drive fast around corner - you have to go slow to go fast!
yea i agree as that was my first thought, but even on a continual bend or a hair pin coming in at about 50 to 60k's as soon as i power on it feels like the front left hand side is just getting pushed out of the road
the D2 coilovers are great, highly recommended as posted in another thread, on certain settings I actually get oversteer into turns 1 and 2 at queensland raceway which are taken at around 135-140 kmh, prior to having the D2s the car would normally understeer. they felt even better at wakefield park where i felt like the car stuck to the track like the proverbial. very good value, high performance coilover in my books.
