hey guys just wanna clear something up, by law i have to be able to display a tyre placard.

does it have to be the stock one? ie. 16's

or should i get the one for 18's since thats what my car has?

(i did search but it showed mixed results)

we can go up to 2 inches higher in tyre size so a 16 is ok,having said that a 16 placard has skinny tyres ,and yours will be wider
so,get a ttz 17 or 18 inch placard this will cover your tyre width ive got a 17 tyre placard sticker spare here,if you want it at cost p/m me

235/40 all round  no wonder i always break traction! i need some wider ones on the rear! oh yeah 18s too:biggrin:

ah so legally im allowed to display the ttz 18' tyre placard.

i was just worried that the law was to display the stock placard (16's) so the cops can know how much bigger your allowed to go.

hmm but arnt we legally allowed to have 18's on our cars providing that we dont down grade the tyre quality.

in which case we would be silly not to display the 16' placard since its legal, and if someone who does know spots the 18' placard you could get in troooble?

does anyone actually know the laws on this?

thinkin about editing my own and printing it out n laminating it :D

stef check front n back? its common for cars to have different size rims on each, such as larger on the front smaller on the back (talkin size not width)

nope, the tyres sizes on the 16 placard are way to skinny ,there is a maximum track width i think and you will exceed the allowable amount from the 16 placard sizes, the tyre gurus may correct me,but i think that is right
height would be ok,tyre width will not be

lol stock width is 225, 10mm cant be out of legality.

also about the 18' placard... its inside the OEM labels part... does this mean it is legal as its a OEM product??!? what zed came with 18s, i knew about 17s for the anniversary edition but not 18s?

lol looks like im ringing qld transport tmr:eek:

nah i said up thereeee 235 all round!

and after reading that i think i know why i have traction issues, high rpm in 1st gear i break and same as through the gears under throttle.

hmm its not to do with rim diameter, its the overall tyre diameter.

and it can be as far over as 15mm.

width is 1.3times stock specifications.. 225 stock this means we can have up to 292.5 legally thats more then wide enough for road driving ey.

and we have to display the stock tyre placard.

found a really nice link hey, check this out guys... info on all the mods n such.

well ,now ill ask you what are you going to do for a spare as the spare is 145 lol
you cannot increase the rear wheel track by more than 2 inches, youre only taking into account one wheel
the law varies from state to state,so i guess you need to check your own regs

Have another look at the "track" limitation. You can't increase the vehicle track by more than 25mm(unless your Z32 is fitted with beam axles). Highly improbable with fully independent suspension, all round.:p:zlove:

    >< so we are allowed to increase the track to a maximum of 26mm... means 13 wider each side, so using the 16 225 to 238mm :S mines legal but thats still tiny, means according to track we can only make phatties legal if we have spacers and spacers are illegal anyway!

258 is the biggest we can have using the 18' placard...

wow guys so what the hell do you all do? as soon as i think i get a answer another law kicks it out of the way....

are yous saying that no cop is gunna check this anyway... as opposed to being thrown over the pits?

No, you are missing the point.
Track is measured from the centre of the tread on one wheel, to the centre of the tread on the opposite wheel, therefore you can go to the maximum rim width allowable(1.3 x stock) if the rim is offset so that the track is not increased by more than 26mm(by having more rim sticking inward, rather than outward).

    scump John Dorian

oh i forgot about the offset's. i dont know much about tyres :p well i guess ill make a tyre place work out the rest for me :D

so with offsets should be fine using the 16' placard eh

If you use the same offset on the new wheels as the old ones, you dont change the track at all, no matter how wide they are. Offset is typically 35-40 for the Z32
