Re: More than that Rob You can get away with the passenger engine mount intact John. But the drivers side has to have the crap ripped out of it. Its a lot of material to remove. I luckily have another set i will predo before pulling the engine. I actually unbrazed THZX's inlet pipes and rotated the ring till it was right and the the pipe fitted back on no probs. But the stock inlet pipe is a bit crappy. It really should be a new one I think. With all the bumps removed. It may be harder to refit then. Its like most things. Nothing is impossible it just takes time and effort.
Single turbo in a Z32 300ZX is not a simple mod ....>> and would seem laggy compared to most twin turbo upgrades.
By the way guys, Coz sells the Z1 turbo kits now so we might be better off aiming a group buy at him as we all know how good his service has been in the past
hi guys i already spoke to coz about this, he said there's not much he can do on the price for a GB because he gets that kit from Z1 and he only has a very small margin on it i mentioned duties etc and he said he can be creative to help us out, even to the point of splitting the kit in half and mailing the halves out a week apart to each customer - and the overall cost being under the $1kAuD or whatever to avoid the duties however to get the GB discount, looks like you'd have to go through Z1 and that GT28R kit does look nice
GB not going to happen with UAS Was over there this morning and they couldn't put together a kit for as much or less. Landed price from Z1 would be about $3600 (including delivery, GST, and broker fees which most freight companies charge). Due to the higher quality fittings etc used by UAS they wouldn't be able to match this price.
damn why is it so hard to find someone in .AU that can get heavily discounted gt28rs kits for z32s. So many people would love to upgrade their turbos, but unlike any other car (well most) we need double the fundings! ;/ I think im just going to have to wait till i someone finds a break through
Spoke to Z1 about the GT600R kit for a possible GB they said: if there's anything you want me to ask them, let me know, and i'll send them a reply to that email tekky -> as you're more familiar with the GT28R install, what isn't covered in their kit? ie What additional expenses can be foreseen?
Which turbo upgrade would u recommend that doesn't involve engine out? I guess I should've stated the obvious The engine must come out to remove the old turbo's and apply the new ones. New injectors would be needed to allow higher boost. A boost controller to increase boost. ECU chipped/re-mapped With all the talk of Mani's, if the MS ones cost about $400-$600US, then I guess that'd be a nice bonus to get earlier spool up? But I was trying to ask Graham if there was anything specific to that kit that isn't included, since he has been looking at making a complete kit for the install - so he will know if there is anything missing in that kit - cheers! rob - just because I recommended a product that doesn't come from UAS, doesn't mean you have to shoot it down, why not weigh it up for it's merits!
2 things.... (these are what i've been told - not from personal experience) 1. You will be able to do a turbo swap without having to pull the engine if it's a direct bolt-on upgrade. (eg, GT2535 - stock turbo upgrade) You won't have room if you want to upgrade to physically bigger turbo. (eg, GT28RS) 2. You can get enough access to both turbos to replace them by removing Dump pipes and gearbox. But... as long as it's a direct bolt-on replacement, like a stock turbo upgrade kit. ie, sending stock turbos away and have internals replaced/upgraded. then everything stays the same and bolts back on. (apart from a very minor mod to accomodate the oil drain line) *** If someone can add/correct this info, please do as this is only what my mechanic has told me. - and i'll be holding him to this theory when I do a turbo upgrade...
Graham, it comes with the flange adaptors on Comp Inlet/Outlet Kit includes: New Garrett GT BB Turbochargers (2), New high pressure adjustable wastegate actuators and brackets (2), Braided Stainless Steel Oil feed lines with .035" restrictors and fittings(2), turbo->manifold gaskets(2), 5 bolt turbo->downpipe gaskets(2), compressor inlet gasket(4), compressor outlet gasket (4) oil return line gasket (4) oil return line spacer (2), Slotted oil return line (2), Compressor housing inlet adapter flange with 2 allen head fasteners(2), Compressor housing outlet adapter flange with 3 allen head fasteners (2) Kit also comes with flange adapters already mounted. Looks like it comes complete with them Graham
Any differences ?? whats the difference between he GT28RS and the GT28/71RS? And how will a Garrett GT30R go in a ZED?
Easier and quicker to pull the engine Benny The driver's side turbo in particular is a nightmare to get at. I've no doubt it could be done but why would you. Pulling an engine out is not really that difficult by comparison.
Re: Graham, it comes with the flange adaptors on Comp Inlet/Outlet yeah it looks complete doesnt it. Having the actuators already on them is a great saver.
So would you say the total implementation cost would be the kit plus 5 bolt dumps plus labour? since engine-turbo-comp/exh is all taken care of with the adaptors etc that sounds like good value for money, we can get that kit for $2kUS each for GB from Z1
why would you miss the opportunity to pull the engine and remove all the redundant coolant and heater hoses etc that you always dream of cleaning up while engine is out? engine out is an opportunity to do a big cleanup i reckon! i'd just need to buy a bomb to get me around for a month
Re: So would you say the total implementation cost would be yep I said at the start its good value IMHO
