    Hi guys/girls,

New member to the forums and to 300 ownership. Purchased myself a pearl yellow auto TT 2+2 last week with 88000ks.

Its pretty much stock which is about to change.

Currently has twin cat back exhaust, ATC Bov's, 17" rays wheels, custom 1 piece tailshaft.

Guy was a bit deceptive when I bought it, gave me story about owning it 7 years and been sitting in garage unused, no accidents etc... I Blew the main hicas actuator hose on the way home but it drives nice and tight, most bushings been done. Good thing is just went over pits so no major problems, no rust etc...

So got it jacked up to pull hicas hose and it begins, figured I'd pull radiator and do the normal cooling system upgrades.... guy must have just topped radiator up with coolant because water was the blackest I've ever seen, clutch fan hub needs replacing, so I figure I may aswell do radiator, hoses, thermostat all in one hit.

Front bar was damaged on bottom lip so I'm changing that for a 2k and upgrading smic's whilst off, delete recirc valves, s13 canister etc.

    Plans in short term are....
    Japtek SMIC and ducts
EBC - not sure what model yet
    ASI 56mm radiator
    New clutch fan hub
    Delete turbo recirc
    Get arc bovs setup correctly
    2k front bar
Kaminari or 2k sides and fillers
    Brazilian rear or twins diffuser
    Injector upgrade
    Nistune
Respray yellow pearl (potentially in lamborghini gialo Orion or Midas)
    Clean up leather interior

Planning once done to have it tuned up for 250+rwkw until I can afford turbos.

    Pics to follow later tonite

Nice mate. Good luck. Looking forward to the pics.

Are you planning on putting on an aftermarket rear bar?

By twinz diffuser are you referring to the spoiler or diffuser on the rear bar?

Hi Mate. welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you have good plans for her.
Your in a good zed community in WA.
Was the car a forum members car?

    Congrats on the purchase.

From my experience you can probably hold off the injector upgrade until you get bigger turbos. I'd at least wait to see how the Nistune tune went before upgrading. The stock turbo's won't produce more than 15-16 psi at high rpm anyway and your stock injectors will supply that - at least mine do.

I have stock turbos and stock injectors and my AFR is 11.8 all the way to red line. Thats with the boost set to 18 psi until about 5000rpm then dropping to 16 psi by 5500rpm. (In the past my stock injectors have allowed an AFR of 11.2 at 16 psi at 6500 rpm albeit that's lower than you want).

Going bigger injectors than you need won't make more power, in fact in general for drivability you should get the smallest injectors that will supply the fuel flow you need.

Guess it can't do harm fitting them now - especially if you're going to do a plenum pull anyway - just saying it may not be necessary till you upgrade the turbos (depending on how well your current stockers flow - guess I can't guarantee that after 24 years they flow as well as mine do. But if you do the Nistune - tune on dyno - you'll soon find out if they're up to the task or not).

If it were me instead of spending money on injectors upgrade I would by a 2nd airflow meter (maybe 2nd hand) and buy the Selin converter and convert to dual pod intake (and use 3A racing pods). And then I'd fit a pair of SZ" expansion dumps.

For whats its worth my stock engine, injectors and turbos are putting out 271 rwkw on UAS dyno. That's with Nistune, big SMICs (Z1 BA), turbo smart manual boost controller, 3" turbo back exhaust, SZ 2" to 3" expansion dumps and Selin based dual intake kit.

Going Brazilian stock bar or with diffuser. Deleted spoiler and infill panel.

No was off gumtree, got her cheap enough that I can spend some dollars on it.

Is it hard to pull plenum on these engines(looking to do full plenum reseal, paint, injectors and change hoses.

Also are there any zed guys in rockingham area savvy with working on these cars wanna earn carton or two and give me a hand fitting an EBC and setting up Bovs correctly.

    Cheers

I'm planning on a plenum pull myself next Christmas holidays and was looking at some vids the other day. Here a couple I found.

(Note sure why this guy pulls the fuel pump relay I just pull the pump fuse myself - a lot easier).

    2 short vids

There's various write ups in various places too no doubt.

    Doesn't look too hard.

PS: So whats involved with disconnecting the accelerator cable (vids don't explain that bit)?

Just curious but do you believe at your level the dual intake was necisary/made a difference aapatt from removing the restrictive Y intersection the single AFM caps out at 350rwkw usually . with the single inlet being enough to draw in plenty of air until that point .

A full exhaust system, aftermarket intake, nistune and EBC or MBC and 16psi should see 240rwkw for him .

The injectors I agree though will be unnecisary unless he wants to do them in preparation perhaps for larger Turbos later ?

Gorgeous colour of car , I can see a few faded issues if I'm being super picky :)
Sounds like you've got your head set on a target go for it mate !!

Yes agreed. My car is an outlier, a freak according to John at UAS. My unusually high result is consistent over a number of dyno pulls though. More normal result would be 230 - 240.

(also note I always use octane booster - or rather Nulon total fuel system cleaner that does the same job - so am probably running closer to 100 octane than 98. If nothing else it makes my 18psi safer).

Yes I believe it does make a difference at my horsepower level - but that is "believe" as in "I think it makes a difference" rather than "I know it makes a difference". Unlike some of my other mods which I did do dyno before and afters of, I don't have a before dyno run for the dual intake. I added the dual intake back before I went beyond stock boost or added Nistune.

I say I believe it makes a difference (maybe due to cutting out turbulence in the T) based on this post below at 300zx club, which I reproduce for those not a member of 300zxclub. Given my unusually high results (for stockers) I am doing something right anyway - which is why I am sharing what I did.

There's some info in our forum on plenum pulls.
Important not to get the accelerator and cruise control cables mixed up.

Mark each electrical connector as you pull them apart, makes it easier to identify when you reassemble.
Also use masking tape and label the vacuum hose's this is also a confusing point at reassembly

Also redo your cam cover seals while you have the plenum off.

Yeah I intend to go masking tape crazy and photograph things too.

good looking car mate, i remember seeing it up for sale on gumtree recently.

you should keep the factory yellow pearl, it looks REALLY nice when fresh and unfaded.

ive got a yellow zed as well, and i think yellow suits the car well.

your in WA which is great, we have semi regular events and tech days etc so im sure we will get a chance to meet eventually.

Welcome. If you are keen and it does seem like you are hold a tech day for your plenum pull. Host some brews a bbq etc make sure you have all the gear requireed and go for it. The guys in Perth are really helpfull and done this sort of thing often

Yeah sounds like a good idea at some time stu.

Yeah I like the a7 factory pearl but really want to see one in nice fresh paint to make up my mind, otherwise the lambo giallo Midas yellow pearl is awesome next choice
