hi guys... i'm looking at a tt zed tomorrow or thursday, the owner has told me its got a couple small problems that should be an easy fix. he's said his mechanic says theres a vacum/air leak somewhere and it is causing it to run weird, idle weird ect. the guy told me it sounds like its running on 5 cylinders and sometimes it shudders on take off. i'm going to take it and get it on a hoist tomorrow to give it a good check but want to know your opinion. would a vacum leak cause the car to shudder on take off? i'm going to do a compression test tomorrow to obviously check the compression and will try and check the coil packs to see if all cylinders are operating, simple stuff really. whats the best way for me to check out the turbo's and to see what condition they are in? anything else i should look into? all the usual stuff i already know but i have not owned or worked on a tt so i'm not sure what to check this time.
My NA had EXACTLY the same symptoms when we bought it... turned out to be a farked spark plug... maybe check those as well if time permits?
take the dumps off and look for oil,if youre worried about vac leaks,take a boost leak tester and test it My advice,if possible ,take a t/t owner and/or a zed guru with you
is that right... well i'll definatly check those tomorrow, at least thats an easy fix. i'd love too, but dont really know anyone down my way or in the area the seller is located to come round.
Shudder on take off could be tail shaft centre bearing, or clutch (if a manual), or diff cradle bushes???
