What do you mean? as in a shift at will kit? if so i'll buy it :p

shift kit as in makes at snap through the gears harder and faster.

    Yeah

The shift kit is not a shift at will kit, it shortens the time it takes to go between gears when changing up or down by changing the fluid pressure in the certainareas of the laberinth on the valve body.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Chris.
Hope this helps out a bit :)

I can vouch for Chris' abilities. I have personally had my gearbox + shift kit fitted by him about 3 months ago and it is doing great. Absolute top guy, and he won't stuff you around.

    Oh man that's killer

I did a bit of research but im still unsure if a shift kit's the same thing as a valve body mod or HKS ALC

If not what's involved in a shift kit (I found what's involved in a valve body mod)

    Apologies for sidetracking topic

Shift kit is a Valve body mod essentially. HKS ALC works much the same as a shift kit, but not quite as good.

The difference with a modded valve body/shift kit installed is staggering. Much better, crisper shifts. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who has an auto... One of my fav mods!

HKS ALC just rises your line pressure. shift kit ups line pressure and mods accumulators. also is a correction kit for some problems with the standard vb.

    Ripped off.
Cost should be closer to $450 at a workshop.

    lol wtf?

Modded VB alone costs approx $400 from most places I called...

    Must just be Perth then...

I was quoted: $450 supply modified VB
    Synthetic Oil: $140
    Filter: $60
    Labour, Service and Inspection: $250

    That was from Rockingham Automatics...

I'm guessing the other places must re-use the oil in your box, dont change the filter and keep you old VB?

    Dunno...?

At least a dozen QLD members have had the VB mod done at Boxstop. We all paid around that money.

most people in perth dont have spear vb's to exchange. if they had 10 vb's in stock that have been modded then yea they probably could get a young fulla to fit it for that price. even nissan 4x4 auto shops wouldnt do it because its not a 4x4 although its the same box. remember how behind W.A is lol
could you get a break down on that price by any chance. just keen to know why they so cheap.

I think Pex is saying the VB mod usually goes for $450 not the $900 that Chilled pain was quoted. I don't think anyone was saying that this deal wasn't a good one

Correct me if I'm wrong Pex

Ahhh but was that exchange with your old VB? The place I spoke to were to give me my old VB back. Anyways, still sounds like they were expensive...

I enquired about shift kits on the forum some time ago. I was told the exact same thing actually... Around $450... But for some reason when i called around, everyone was telling me $800-$900...

Needless to say, I didnt go to one of these places... (Cheers ezzupturbo and Pmack!) :)

Damn i wish i lived over east sometimes. We get screwed over in Perth it seems lol!
