Hi there. A non-300ZX owner here (but I'd love to have one). I'm here in hopes of finding a few answers about the RE4R03A in the Turbos and RE4R01A in the non-turbos. I'm looking for some description/comparison of the two units. Is the "3" simply an upgraded version or are these completely different transmissions. The question I most need answered is whether the tail housings are interchangeable. The story is that I'm making plans for an engine swap in my first generation Mazda MPV-4X4. The tranny in my van is a "1", identical to the trans in the non-turbo 300 except for the (interchangeable) bellhousing. I'm looking at using the Nissan 4.5 V8 from a Q45 (which used the "3" trans) but am unsure if I will face a challenge trying to mate my stock Mazda transfer case to the back of the "3" trans.
