    dismantling the rear lights ....

forgetting to remove that little "bastard" screw at the rear on each set of lights ... you will not get them apart w/out removing the screw .....

Back to basics.... once you drop the oil and change the filter, remember to put some new oil in. ;)

hahha how about checking the oil 2 mins after an oil change, the filter takes up a bit and drops the level.

Installing a FMIC with piping identical on both sides is okay if you have a Side by Side FMIC like me! :)

Check the sump for ANY indication it may be bent, pushed in or anything that dosn't look right ... if in dought check the oil pickup conditon and/or oil pickup to sump clearence.
This is what I found ... the bent one was in my engine.

Sadly I didn't find it until this happened ... the bottom bearing had spun and all the others were'nt far away either.

Luckly this happened on the Dyno so was able to shut it down before it flew apart.

Wasn't pushing it either had just done a base run of 290rwkw @12psi and then another of 310wk @15psi ... was in the proccess of tuning it after some Turbo/Exhaust mods.

These are the small pins that stick out of the camshaft end, where the intake sprocket attaches, right?

If so, I didn't know those came out :/

    I'd call them locating dowls...

And I believe they are part of the shaft. You just have to make sure to line the sprocket up with the dowl when reinstalling.

Ditto, I wanted to know if I should be worried about them.

PS - anybody have any tips for removing the exhaust valve cover, while in car? lol

Undo the bolts, big screwdriver under the tab thing and lever up.

    Oh yeah, plenum off first.

Nono, the intake is easy as pie - exhaust one, not so much.

    let me re-phrase my question.

Any tips on removing the last 4 bolts on the underside of the exhaust valve cover, angled towards the fender, blocked by turbo piping.

UGH - spent 3 hours removing the EGR assembly from the LIM today, then hit that and called it a day.

(please note my engine is still in-car, so I'm not mechanically retarded with the EGR removal. haha)

Its probably too messy to be a sticky, we could probably re write the whole thing and submit to tech or something

And filling with oil before re-installing, that has caught out one member that I know of, who was getting 0 compression across both banks.

Yep, remove the piping - quicker and easier than stuffing around trying to get the bolts out with them still on...

My motor would've been done 3 months ago if this was a sticky :lame::stupid:
