Do not currently have a race licence. What will be required? How soon do I need to get the ball rolling? Thanks for the input. :zlove:

    Good one Dino

Minium you will need is a L2S cams licence, simply as filling out a form and paying your money, check the Cams website for details.
before that you will need to belong to an affiliated car club, plenty around, just a matter of choice.
Lot of us belong to Skylines AUS, can join on line.
Other than that you just need your clothing, shoes and helmet.
oh and a big pair of gonads won't go astray either.:D :D :D

How do we go about registering for the track events next Easter?

I booked my accommodation a while ago and got my CAMS L2S license last friday so I don't want to miss out on at the last hurdle. (well one of the last ones, still have to drive all the way there from Melbourne.)

Is this event like the Sprints where nearly anything goes or is it all by the book? Do I need race seats and harnesses that are in date? Mine are a little old

They're NOT optional for us Caz, and I dare say that you wouldn't be so flippant about this important issue, if you didn't look like you do.:p:eek::zlove::zlove:

How easily you dismiss such vital accessories.:(:p;)

Thanks, I tried that link from the Warwick thread here and there was nothing about the nationals but it is working now, maybe a cache problem on my computer or something.

    Works now anyway.

    CAMS Sprints

Track event will be run as CAMS Sprints so you and your car will need the usual for such events.

Good to see people getting excited about it already but don't worry, Morgan Park was booked ages ago for these Nationals and entry forms etc will be sent out once the CAMS required paperwork has been done and the Sprints approved. This process of necessity happens within a month or two of the event itself. The Z Car Club's website will carry all the details in due course, including entry details, much closer to the event when everything is able to be finalised.

For anyone who is not a member of a CAMS affiliated club you can always join the host club, any assistance over the Nationals weekend will be appreciated because it looks like its going to be a monster Nissan - Datsun car orgy

A tip for those who won't have driven MP before. Check out some incar vids, Youtube for one has some and set your car up for lots of slow and mid speed corners ;) Other than that its not a car demanding circuit.

Exactly what category do sprints come under? It's not a speed event is it?

Sprints are definately a speed event. Non speed events are things like motorkahanas.

If I am reading the rules correctly - CAMS Schedule I (Safety Harnesses)

    Table 2 >> Speed event >> Type C belt

Table 1 defines Type C belt >> Lap sash >> Seat belts as fitted to production cars as standard equipment and marked as complying with ADR 4/00 or 4/01 shall be deemed as complying with AS2596

    Have I got it right?

For a registered vehicle in a speed event -

    Roll cage - not required
Seat Belts - standard ADR lap/sash
    Sticker to show Battery location
Visible front and rear tow hook
Standard bonnet latch and safety OK
    Fire extinguisher required
    Competition numbers (both sides)

    For Driver-
    Helmet
Clothing - non flammable (but not specifically fire rated)

I am definately in the NOOB category on this. Anything else on the mandatory list?

Remove any loose items from car (Spare, boot carpet, cd's etc) Make sure your battery is held firmly in place (scrutineering will check that) and that the possitive battery terminal is covered (factory sheath or otherwise wrap with electrical tape) and Brake lights are working. Tyres should be roadworthy and pressures adjusted. Brake fluid should be good quality with a high boiling point and not too old. (I like the Motul RB600) Good track pads on the front. Also the extinguisher should have a date on it and will need to be less than 3 years old. Check the date when you buy one as I almost bought one at Revolution Racegear that was already 18 months old and still on the shelf.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    Pretty well right Dino.
When the entry forms are made available, there should be a set of event "supplementary regulations" which will detail the requirements specified by the organisers. I would expect to see what you have posted, but there may be a requirement for bonnet pins or some other form of secondary securing mechanism for the bonnet. You may be asked to place tape or film on all forward facing lights.

You will be asked to cover all forward facing glass as that is a CAMS requirement. Dates on extinguishers are no loner an issue, instead the scrutineer will inspect the extinguisher to make sure it is safe to use. Basically that means checking that it has pressure and the powder hasn't settled.
