Ok guy's I have a problem I'm taking my Z down to A2ZED this week and I have to tow it from bundaberg to brisbane about 4 1/2 hours travel the plan is getting a hire car trailer and using a AU falcon to tow it,should this be ok for a one time trip or am i asking for trouble? has anyone done something similar any input would be much appreciated thanks.

Parents have an AU s3 6cyl falcon, and I am pretty sure it can tow over 2000kg's braked.
They have heaps of torque, so the zed should be no drama.

yeah cool, but now i have just found out that all the car trailers for hire in this town have a 1200kg capacity can this be right has anyone put a zed on one of these size trailers?
    the problems continue lol

I towed a 2 seater Z on a good car trailer behind an XG Ford Falcon ute.
Towed great on the flat roads & going up hills wasn't a problem either, but the falcon brakes just were not up to it & the ute wasn't heavy enough.
I wouldn't do it again, a 4WD would be the way to go.

Keep in mind the average car trailer has short ramps and can add a lot of dramas. Be prepared with Extra blocks and planks of timber. I learnt this the hard way

ahh I meant East Coast Z talking of his experience struggling with braking down hills :D

The brakes on the falcon definitely are not anything to be desired :D

I towed a zed with a forrester the other day...

up hills = low range..... POWWWAAAAAAA..

or i just avoided the hills...

braking wasn't too bad you should always have extra space when towing, was more worried about speed wobbles on the fwy so stuck at 80-90 and was fine.

hire one of those low sided ones trailers otherwise car is pretty wide and mine was real low say 65mm clearance so need to jack up front of trailer and as they said longer timber ramps and blocks reqd

Couple of other things to note.

When its on the trailer, don't open the door straight away. you might smack it on the edge. Check it.

Second. Dont use a magna. When loading the back of the magna will fly. Dont ask how I know! Its very scary. Choose your tow car very wisely.
