They've fingerprinted my Z and I'm about to go check out the damage.

Is it just me or does anyone think $289.50c is a reasonable towing fee to tow a car ten kilometres?

Feel like I'm being robbed it was towed from Southport to Molendiner.

Possible that RACQ or similar cover it? Tell them it's broken down and needs a tow home ;)

start it with a screwdriver just like they did when it was stolen?

Nah they towed it to the impound when it was found as they wanted to fingerprint it... cop actually didn't think I would be charged for the tow.

    Today they want $300 eep.

Towing for accidents is usually around 250. I had an accident in my previous car and towies swamped me like vultures writing out invoices telling what the go was and how much it well me and I told them where to go because I didn't even agree to it. Called a mate and got it towed for a carton! :p

If anyone needs a cheap tow around the Brisbane area, I can do it.

Sounds a quite rich to me Paul :(...I once got the GTR towed for about the same distance through town (Bendigo) for about $120 on the weekend.

Good luck with it all, I'm hoping like everyone else is that the damage is minimal.

    Cheers,

    Craig

Depends when it is, when I bought my project car on a sunday afternoon I was being quoted $300 for a 35km tow, waited til later in the week and got it for $150.

I'll have a whine at the boss at Wheeldons.
I could get the same tow for about $80-$100 usually.
Still a good result depending on the amount of damage. :zlove:

Sounds like a rip to me...

I was only charged $200 for a 70km trip on a tilt tray. It was night time and I was in the middle of nowhere. So, they are definately "having a lend of you"

I think its because of the circumstances, the insurance company covered the tow when i crashed my zed so maybe they assumed stolen/recovered car = write off?

Exactly, I got there at 4pm and they had already gone.
Apparently no obvious damage other then door lock and ignition.
Guy at the yard with the neck tats tells me it's an $88 fee for a local tow, will speak with the boss in the morning I'm not copping that outrageous fee.
Insurance council will accept a certain fee so they rip em off. *shrugs* no wonder insurance is such a rip.

just get it out of there as soon as you can !!

Getting it tomorrow, I'll haggle something fair.
But nearly $300 is ridiculous, I can tow it to Brisbane for $200... and I know they charge $88 for a local tow.
It's all good new, only damage is the locks and I'm sure they dumped it straight away.
Cops were keen to print it as there has been plenty of burnt out joy rides lately, my theory on the dodgy connectors seems valid.
Plus they swapped a battery from another car I'm sure they got plenty of good prints.
Ohhh yeah, was two parking tickets on it. :)

Get the cops to sign a Stat Dec saying you were NOT in possession of the car when these fines occurred & that you had reported it stolen to them!......& the local Council may take pity & let you off??..........worth a try! ;)
