    hey everyone,

i have a seized ac compressor in my 300zx TT and i was wondering if its worth fixing it/getting a replacement one?? does it drain power much from engine or cause much temp increase?? cause i know i could prob go without it but im in a hot area and ac is near on required in summer.. what's the forums thoughts on what i should do??

+1 to try fix it, if you search your options, look around etc, you could probably replace or rebuilt the compressor for not too bad of a price.

the VG30TT is a torquey motor, dont notice the extra stress of the pump much. the aircon is very good in the car, its icey cold!

Fixing it, depends on whats wrong with it, coulf see you spending upwards of $600.

Getting it revamped will forever out live the car and will be a stong point for your cooling system.

If you're more interested in the cheaper alternative, hit the WTB section of the forum and post a thread in there asking for a working conditioned A/C Pump.

I bought my replacement for $100. Was a good cheap alternative.

    Food for thought.

seconded. my a/c compressor seized about 6 years ago, and i got a second hand one off a wreck that was in good "looking" condition for about $120, mainly no oil leak marks around it anywhere. Installed it, got it re-gassed and has been going perfectly for that 6 years now! Wouldn't consider driving without it. ever! lol.

A complete Rebuild will cost you about $700, a recon slightly less. Also look at www.czp.us as the price of a new compressor with the current exchange rate may be worth a look.
Also, factor in a new receiver/dryer as well at about $110.
Allow $400-$500 for fitting if you are getting a mechanic to do it for you.
