I realise you already have this beat, but to remove belt in this situation you could always just remove the centre pulley to take the tension off the belt.
we reused our tensioner you can tell if it is working or not and Lloyd did you count teeth between marks exactly, I even counted down to the crankshaft spocket and between cams, just saying I am sure you did
