Tidying up engine bay.

    I've taken the engine out, and have been left with a pretty messy, complicated looking engine bay, and was wondering if you guys had any ideas or thoughts on what can be done to neaten it up?

    I've seen pictures of zed engine bays that seem to be really clean and tidy, and even seem to be missing certain things that I can't work out where they've been put :confused:

    I've had the engine out for quite some time now, neatening it up and doing the 100k service as well as replacing anything that should be done as preventative maintenance, But it wouldn't make sense to put a nice clean engine back into a very messy engine bay :eek:

    So.. any ideas? thoughts? pictures?

    -fuse box under nose/stock IC location if available
    -fuel filter in fender, delete all hardlines back to the bottom hard line and run lines along back of engine bay and up the middle of engine under throttle cover
    - throttle cable run along back of engine to its location (no sharp bends of course)
    - ps reservior relocated next to mini fuse cover on drivers side rear of bay- down low custom line to pump
    - hicas removal if applicable
    - clutch hardline reoval (if manual + install braided line from master to slave)
    - hide all wiring harness along drivers side of bay, tuck it down low
    - bury the engine harnes under/around plenum rather than over it
    - all vac lines run longer along sides of engine rather than over/high around engine
    - egr/aiv/prvr deletes with wiring harness plug removal and all lines/solenids removed
    - PTU relocation under nose/ top of IC
    - remove any brackets/clip etc that are visible and not needed after relocating all wiring/ cables/vaclines/hardlines etc

    this is normally what i try and get done when doing engine bays neatly...

    S2 PTU installed with wiring relocated underneath the nose panel- requires only untaping of existing loom tape. Wires have ample length for relocate.
    CTS and secondary hardpipe temp sensor wiring re-routed-
    requires extending wires. Re-route through underneath nose panel and bring out where top radiator hose is located. Can cable tie to underside of hose to hardpipe.

    Above 2 remove all of the wiring at the front of the motor. Making it much neater and possible to leave off cam covers.

    EGR, AIV removed- not only the complete piping, but the solenoids as well, and their associated plugs. Untape the loom back to where the wiring leaves the main harness, cut the wiring at different lengths, approximately 20mm apart will suffice, tape the ends and re-tape them into the main harness. This completely conceals the fact that there was ever anything "supposed" to be in these locations. Same can be done if running an after-market EBC with removing factory boost solenoids.

    PVC re-routing to catch can- Starting from the Passenger side intake cam cover, run new piping to front exhaust cam cover breather point, then new piping from rear point to T-piece in drivers side Intake breather point. Run underneath Throttle body intake piping to nose panel and mount catch can there. With regards to PCV's in plenum, unscrew them, fill them from the back with an epoxy filler (Selleys "Knead-It is ideal). Re-fit PCV's when set.

    Wiring for Cyl #4 and #6 coilpacks re-routing- The 2 that seem to come from the loom at the passenger side plenum runner. Untape loom and re-route them to come through the centre galley of the plenum, same as the rest of the coilpack loom. This neatens up around the RHS of balance pipe, and requires no extending of wiring.

    Just a couple of things, but makes the engine bay a lot more easier to navigate.

    If installing EBC, locate all vacuum hosing and solenoids to underneath of nose panel also.

    Another easy thing to do is relocate the battery to the boot.

    Thats just a sexy car all over... and what an engine bay.... he's got those rear covers on too... makes a huge diff...

    What is the reason for blocking off the PCV's when fitting a catch can, it doesn't make sense in my head to do it like that.

    Really clean car. Love the interior; redone, but not ott like 99.99% of retrimmed interiors are. Not a fan of the engine bay at all. it's too much.

    *Re-routing the cam breather pipes to catch can eliminates the necessity to relocate the cam cover breather that permits oil to come out of it under heavy cornering.
    *Block off PCV's as they are no longer required as a route for the "blowby" from your cam covers. Its all now being collected in your catch can, which you can then vent to atmosphere (illegal) or back into the intake pipe where the previous piping ran.

    After having done this to the TT, never experienced a trace of oil in any intake piping and no traces at all in plenum. Can't give results for the NA as it was done straight away with replacement motor. Does however make it a LOT easier for future plenum pulls and intake piping removal.

    Unrelated - anyone else think that the 2k rear wing needs to be set back a bit further? looks odd from every angle he's shot.

    that is pretty cool although im a bit iffy about the rear cover, might look better if he left that off but made sure everything looked clean there. he should have taken out those bumps in the wells at the front. also needs a full rad support cover. all in all looks great heaps of work gone into that :zlove::zlove::zlove:

    is that a 2k rear? looked a lil like the bar im lookin at...which isnt a nissan bar...
