apparently insurers are entitled to give discounts (conditions apply) on the legislated amount normally charged on green slips. Things like continuity of insurance with the same company and no claims all contribute to getting a discounted rate.

It turned out I had a (non existant) claim "flagged" against one of our cars & the zed did not have a 5 year history with them (kinda hard when I've only owned it for 18mths).

Once they found that no claim existed and that a 10 year+ history of insurance on other cars could be related to the zed I was informed that a correction would be made to my next renewals (but no rebate on past payments). I was entitled to a discount of between $118 & $159. If you apply that across 3 vehicles we are talking some serious money.

So next time your green slip comes up for renewal, phone your insurer & ask some questions[/COLOR=blue] it could put some money back in your pocket.
