Today i got a text from some guy who was interested in my Z. He had gotten my number off of www.allclassifieds.com.au and offered me a VS commodore and 500 dollars. He said that mine was too expensive and that he had found one for 4800 that he would rather buy. I told him that he would end up spending alot more on it if he bought a cheapy. I would never trade my Z for a run of the mill VS commodore Is this what our cars are worth these days?
With people these days having no understanding about these cars and how they operate (im still learning to hehe) they have gotten a bad name which really isn't justified, also people just dont understand the concept of "you get what you pay for" so when they see a zed for 2k they jump at it and thats when the unjustified name comes in, because they cry and cry about them not working or omg its going to cost this much to fix well FFS you brought it now deal with it.... People have no idea about these cars and how owning one can make you feel and more then half the people buying zeds these days will never know the feeling cause they just dont care, I think if your buying a zed because you think its a nice car and oh i would look so cool in one of those, then you should never be anywhere near a zed, because they are so much more then that.... So in short im sure yours is worth alot more but you will probably get alot of aussie bogans in their falcons and commodores offering you silly amounts of money, or better yet their pride and joy auto VT commodore and then cash their way lol!, its sad but thats how it seems to be going these days... Yeah it sickens me what the percieved value of a 300zx is these days... People are ##%^ heads... They see a 300zx for 4k and assume they are all only worth that...
having said that, there is the other end of the scale where ppl want massive money for crap. I found a 300zx in QBN just outside canberra, it was a yellow one. Very badly sun damaged, leather seats damaged, paint damage from sun, some engine parts missing (fan shroud), front bar all hacked up, Carbon fibrebonnet that was sun damaged. all round the car was crap, unloved and uncared for. only suitable for wrecking. would need 7K+ to make it respectable again. he was after 4k. I offered 1k. and i never heard from him again. Couldnt even drive the car!
The guy was obviously trying it on. The correct txt to send back to him is "How about I give you a spoon so you can eat s#!t".

As much as i agree with you in some respects, on some i don't. Yes you get what you pay for etc. Many z's are so neglected now they have gotton a bad rep, infact theres are more stuffed ones than decent ones, so naturally value is going to plummet. at the end of the day its only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it... i admire your attitude and sentiment to the Z but for many this is not the case. I also believe that the z32 suffers alot more than other cars your run of the mill sports car buyer may look into when neglected. many neglected/ thrashed skylines, silvias etc but they handle abuse alot better... Key example was when i bought my first Z, all my mates rubbished it, it was plagued with problems, meanwhile all my mates were driving thrashed silvias etc, that wern't really having any problems... therefore my car was labelled a bucket of shit by comparison. I must agree with them to a point from an outsiders view having never owned a Z nor driven one for any prolonged period of time, i found it very hard to explain to them how a z "completes you" , i found my past sports coupes never really gave me that same feel, but in a Z you kind of feel at home i guess. To an outsider that doesn't matter they are only seeing what is going wrong with the car. i can't really explain this how i want to, its 2am and i've had a few to drink... but you get the general idea lol... bah i may try this post again in the morning lol Skid.

This VS commodore guy has now approached me and is driving me insane, one more stupid text message and im gonna tell him to shove it! I generally wouldn't do this but I think you guys would love to have a look at these texts... So after a few quick questions he offers me his commodore... and again (this time with a frowny)... At this point i stopped replying and he just sent me another frowny which pissed me off a little Then talks about alternative payment methods, I tell him I could help him out on my terms but seems to have trust issues Offers me the VS again (third time was definitely not a charm), and a very stupid reason as to why I should "help him out" I have no idea what the hell hes trying to pull here but when I read that last message from him I raged hard!
Yeah at first i thought it was one of my mates trolling me, but when I read hed been asking about other z's I think hes quite serious...
