Been playing around with the Zed's dash of late (as I have never been happy with the slack readings the OEM gauges give out) and have finally installed the almost finished version. Really been thinking about this since I put in the all the gauges in for the Nationals last year, but time being the thing I haven't had much of until lately. Not a huge fan of cluttering up the cockpit too much so this is what I came up with... The left gauge is an Oil pressure gauge (hence why the warning light/sound can be heard in the video cos the motor isn't started) and the right gauge is a Water temp one. BTW the old oil pressure gauge now reads as a highly accurate fuel tank level gauge I'm just trying to get a new facia made up for that but you can see it come up in the video. REALLY keen observers will notice the tiny fuel pump symbol on the right hand side of the bottom left warning light cluster, this is now the fully functioning low fuel level light as originally found in the OEM fuel level gauge What do you guys think? Video of the start-up and finish shows
Subtle install. I really like it. I am curious about your climate control pod though. The 23 and 30 numbers of the ambient and set temperatures. Are they really blue? Or is it just a trick of the camera. If they are blue, how did you do that? I converted my left pod to red, and am wondering if its possible to make those light up red also. Not really what it looks like in person, but a fair indication I suppose
its a bluey green and its standard err well my car is the same and i think its standard so its boost and oil temp and fuel ?? were you going to change the speedo and tako ? and they are nice gages are they deffy ?
Weird. I thought mine was white. Maybe I just haven't paid close enough attention. I wonder if it is possible to convert it ...
That is awesome. Love it. Was it hard to do all that? How long did it take you? Where did you buy those guages that are dark when there's no pwer but lit when you turn it on ???
bastard! hahahaha i was looking at doing the same thing Well done mate.... can't wait to see it in the flesh...
They are defi BF gauges. They are awesome gauges, but come with a pricetag. Not sure who the cheapest supplier is though.
outstanding improvement over standard that is a great example of a modification that is CLEARLY an improvement over standard, no question at all. Always like it on the very rare occasion when the " CUSTOMISING" is actually something that works better than the original.
was lucky enough to see a demonstration at Josh's house, this looks awesome!! and the best part is that its a mod which looks like part of the car, not too ricey or overdone. good job Brad
That looks sensational mate! Big improvement over the stock setup too, especially for the track etc. Nice and subtle, I am also not a fan of guages everywhere. Looks really classy:zlove:
Not really, a bit of re-wiring, a bit of cutting and remodelling, a bit more cutting, soldering and glueing. Some rerouting of wires and a bit of perusing of the Service manual regarding ohm readings and signal ranges. Also a bit of on-road testing to make sure the fuel gauge read properly and the low fuel warning light worked too. Oh, and I brush-finished the polished gauge rings to match the outside edge rings of the BF Defi's. Came together pretty much as I had originally conceived which was nice.
Hey Brad thats an excellent job well thought out mate. For a novice like myself it sure looks complex and lots of time put in. well done
Yeh, V nice job, but do u actually have a fuel gauge or just a warning light? I wouldn't be comfortable without a gauge and just warning light myself.
