ive replaced all the spark plugs on my z and its still missing ive tried cleaning the terminals and all the wat not but its still not FRICKEN WORKING

ive driven it a few times to get parts and sometimes itll come back online then drop off again

im thinking maybe the coil pack is dieing in the ass

is there a way to test the coil pack or does anyone have any suggestions

go to the techsection and type coilpack in the box, magic will happen :)

The left pin of each coilpack plug is connected to the PTU, the middle to the ignition relay and the right to ground.

    If you have a multimeter:

    * Check the resistance between the middle and the left pin of the coil connector plug (looking from the side of the engine). Should be around 0.7 Ohm.

    * Check for continuity between
-the left pin and the corresponding pin on the PTU
-the middle pin to the ignition coil 12V
    -the right pin and ground

also try the ptu/conectors and CAS/connectors.

    corrosion on coilpack plug

Checking the resistance may tell you if it is completely dead, but it will not tell how it really performs.

I had a problem where one would sometimes miss a bit at low revs. You could measure that one til you were blue in the face. I could see on the O2's in datascan it was on the left side (would run rich) Replacing them one by one and when I replaced no 6, the problem went away.

Real time test - charge, discharge - anybody ever done such a test ?

The coilpacks are inductors, basically a electric component that boosts the voltage from 12v to 30,000v +

As a component, these function using a magnetic core wrapped in wire to store voltage. Theoretically they are fairly robust and would not fail under normal conditions.

    Are you chasing misfiring?

ifso, more likely to be injector connectors than coilpack connectors.

Roughly for every 1 coilpack /connector problem there will be 10+ injector connector problems.

Get a spark load tester, they arent expensive and wind it right out . Those coilpacks should jump something huge like 15 mm.
