Well after hunting down a small oil leak under the car I noticed a few things about my suspension...

Am I correct in assming these are the 'tension rods?' Replaceable with this style of adjustable like Egg or PZP sells?

Also noticed this... The boot has split completely and the bare metal is exposed.

What exactly are these? What do I replace them with?

Sorry for the noob questions. But I am 'diy'ing my Zed from a 0 knowledge base and learning a heap along the way!

    Cheers,

    Dan

yes they are the tension rods your car will drive much nicer once you have some fitted , by the looks of it your steering rack has a leak to wich you might want to have a close look at before replacing the boot

and just to clarify, the rubber things that have split are steering rack boots.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Looks like the tension rods will be simple enough to DIY with a wheel alignment after...

Also found K-Zed's post regarding the VL Steering rack boots from Repco as a replacement etc. Love that guy! :zlove:

One last question. As can be seen in the picture, there is fluid leaking from the steering rack... Is this supposed to just be held in by the dust boot or does it mean that the actual rack has a problem? There is a small 'bearing' over the exposed metal part that is moving around freely and looks like it should be fixed somewhere...

Rack replacement is moving into the PITA job realm...:bash:

    Cheers,

    Dan.

Dan, depends how bad the leak is. This was covered in a recent thread. If it's not leaking much and you can live with it, then don't make it a prioirty to replace.

Just keep topping PS fluid up as required.(assuming its not draining itself once a day :))
