Im a bit of a noob when it comes to turbos, but since i need some i guess i better ask some questions:D
While looking around the net I came across the Kinugawa turbo TDO5 20G with a 8cm2 exhaust housing which is supposed to equate to a 0.57 A/R from what i have read. Its ment to be a direct fit for S15's so will need 5 bolt dumps and compressor flange adapters to go into a Z
Is this turbo bigger than a GT2560
From what ive read they are made in Taiwan by KAMAC and sold under the Kinugawa name by Kando Dynamic. Also people that are using them seem to be clocking up the K's and seem pretty happy with them.
So if its not to big i might give them ago, fire away.....

its like the gt2871r with bigger exhaust wheel

Quite a few of the Evo boys use Kando Dyanimics turbos with no issues.

Worth a shot if they are really cheap.

So its quiet big then. i see they make a 18G compressor wheel version, what difference would this make

There Website lists them for $770 .But you can get them on on ebay for $733, this includes braided oil/waterlines, gaskets and free shipping.

slightly smaller compressor inducer by 2mm

    bit better spool

    gt28rs -400rwkw not good enough?

Lol, of course they are, Im window shopping at the moment.
It all comes down to money, the gt28rs kit would be around 3k shipped .where as i could fit tjesr for less than 2k.

    fair enough .

also have to look at the cost to make the tdo's fit

This. If you aren't knowledgeable at clocking turbo's, oil lines and all the bits and pieces that go into making them "bolt-up" than the $3k bolt on kit would end up being comparable if not cheaper than just buying a set of TDO's and fitting them up. Don't forget in the zed, the amount of room you have is not easily visualised while the engine is on a stand and your fitting turbo's up, the last thing you want is to muck around getting them fitted and then drop the motor in realising all your hard work has just been pissed up against the wall and you have to start again.

But if they are meant to be a direct fit for a S15 then it wouldn't be much of a stretch to fit onto a VG. Agreed it would be a fair bit of mucking about. If it was my money I would buy a bolt on kit from the usual suspects.

Yes i see what you mean and i wouldn't be considering this if i thought the price will blow out.
Ive gotten to this stage so far from what i have read about fitting GT28's or S15 TD05's in this case.
    1. Remove waste gate actuators
    2. With the turbo mounted to the engine the V-band clamp needs to be loosened and the chra rotated so the oil feed is at the top and drain is at the bottom. ( there may be a dowel pin between the chra and turbine that needs to be removed before the chra can be clocked)
    3. tighten V-band
    4. Sort out oil drain back pipe and hose to sump, the TD05 has the same 38mm bolt spacing as the GT series garrets but uses a M6 bolt instead of M8
    5. Fit T28-T25 clocking adapters and factory hard pipes to compressor housing
    6. remove Circlip and rotate compressor housing so the inlet and outlet are in the correct position. refit circlip
    7. mount actuators in factory positions custom, mounts will need to be made
    8. fit oil lines TD05 has a M10x1.25 inlet port
    9. fit water lines M14x1.5 same as T25
    10. fit dumps
    11. pray
    12. put engine in
    13. pull engine out lol

    Turbos, gaskets, water/oil lines $1400
    5 bolt dumps $200-350 depending
Czp inlet clocking adapters $45 + postage
    miscellaneous bits $200
