Taking the Zed off the road

I am thinking of taking my zed off the road for a few years as i don't get to drive it and until my youngest is able to be in the back without a child seat then it is just sitting in the garage gathering dust. I do enjoy the occasional spirited drive but not enough to justify the dollars it costs me in licence and registration.

I thought about selling but i cannot bring myself to do it. I think this will be the best way and i can keep my good condition low kilometer zed in the same condition for the next 4 years and who knows it will probably be rarer in 4 years time.

    Any suggestions or comments?

Sell it. Buy back in four years and let someone else wear the depreciation. Z32 prices aren't going anywhere but south.

I don't want to sell it. It is too nice and i was very lucky to get it in the first place.

If you know the condition of your Z intimately, then It is not worth selling just to buy another in a few years time. Also consider the possible hassles of reregistering it in a few years time if you have any mods done, and the risk of having it uninsured, even if it isn't driven.
How old is your youngest? Why not put a child seat in?
I was in the same predicament; we were renovating 2 houses, sold 1 (full reno), rented the other out, bought another, as well as a new addition to the family, and started a new job, all in the last 2 years. My Z hasn't been driven much at all in that time, and on occasion had thought of selling but in the current market I don't think anyone would pay what I would ask. I've had it nearly 11 years and it is in excellent, mostly original, condition, so I decided to just keep it registered and insured (extreme limited use with shannons is pretty cheap), and enjoy the occasional short drive. Now we have weekends free we will be able to enjoy more frequent outings, with the little fella in the back :)

Your call, quick internet search reveals this.

If you aren't worried about getting flat spots on your tyres I wouldn't worry about jacking it up; safer to have it sitting on its tyres especially with young kids around.

I have a large shed so storage is not a problem.

Store it, i got one in store. start it every now and then. take it for a drive around the block. get it warm park again for another time. cost you nothing to store. no brainer really.

Mate if you love it, don't sell it......you will regret it. I've got a child seat in mine and use it all the time. I also had a mint 2+0 that I sold years ago and regretted it big time. I don't think I'll ever find another Z in that condition again. AS for depreciation don't worry about it. These cars aren't going much further. They started at close to $100K and now sell for $10K. How much can you really lose? $5K.....maybe.....or maybe nothing as these cars are getting harder to get in good condition every year and the good ones are starting to command a premium.

Why sell it, if you have a child the rear seats are the perfect size! ;)

No but seriously dont sell it.

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Put the gun down, dont be silly, you'll get through this.
What else can I say mate, You'll regret selling the minute it goes out the gate. Just store it and use the time to improve little by little, not that yours need any improvement .

Thanks for the support guys, I do not want to sell it but i just don't use it that much at the moment.
I understand that i can put a baby seat in the back but that option is not really to my liking. Baby's in the back spilling milk and god knows what else all over the place. Toys and food that get under seats and all that shit. I have that in the family car and it drives me to distraction. I clean the bastard every week and it always comes back looking like a pig sty. No, I can do without very small children in the back of the zed thanks.

I think i will just park it in the shed and start giving it the love and attention it deserves for the next 3 or 4 years.
