When tailshaft is reconnected, I understand that the yokes need to be attached to the exact holes as previous due to it being balanced as a whole piece. But what do you do when your marks have disappeared and now I don't know their exact position as previous

look closely to see if there are any scores across the outside which you can line up, otherwise I think trial and error/prayer, if you get a vibration in the car at speed you guessed wrong.

I guess you have 4 in 1 chance of getting it right ( fairly good odds compared to tattslotto ). Or just try each way then put it in the way thats quietest.

Is it really that bad if it's not put back the same?

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

All the Yokes "ears" should usually line up right the way down the shaft including across the center bearing.

If Cardan type (uni) joints are indexed around each other, they can vibrate like a beeyatch.
However, sometimes, this is used to cancel harmonics transmitted thru a driveline.
Im pretty sure GMH index their tailshafts around in some Commonwhore models *blah* amount of degrees to quieten driveline noise.

    It doesn't matter at all.
If you change your diff or tailshaft, you won't have any marks.
A tailshaft is balanced out of the car.
