Does anyone know what type of speed sensor is in the 5sp supra gearbox? i.e. is it a pulse width modulated one or a analogue signal? Where can you get these from?

jut found the mark IV supra manual online

and it uses a pulse width type speed sensor which is bugger as we're after a sinewave frequency modulated one so time to drag out the old electronics textbook to design a ciruit.

it's a supra gearbox bolted up

to a 1990 ZR1 Corvette engine in a LX Torana. We keep getting a speed sensor fault which shuts it out of 400HP mode so can only hobble around in 250HP mode at the moment. This car is a weapon at 450HP and the car weights 1150Kg with max torque at 22000rpm and it revs up to 8000rpm :) It still easily spins the wheels in 4th gear.

    Hey Chewy, yummmmmmmmm >>>>

Is that motor the LT-5 DOHC alloy 5.7litre??? As I understand it all ZR-1's came with the LT-5 motor - and the ZR-1 option nearly doubled the price of the car.If it is, I'm guessing there ain't too many of them here in Oz. All I can say is NICE![image]http://www.zr1.net/gifs/lt5_blowup.gif[/image]

Mikey, yep that's the one >>

Quad Cam All Alloy 5.7L V8 LT-5. It's the first of the test production engines to roll off the line too (were 25 test dedicated engines prior to this one) so it's done a total of 37.0Km in the last 13 years :). It has two throttle butterflies in the plenum that open up until 3000rpm when the 8 other secondary butterflies open up which are located inside the heads. The engine itself cost $20,000 and then there's the custom headers and exhaust system that cost $6000. All up I think my friend spent 10 years and $70,000 on this LX Torana of which I've helped for the last 6 years. There was one black ZR-1 for sale here last year that went for $120,000 and that's on a 12 year old car.
