    Dave

It's open to all. Your car must be registered and adhere to ANDRA rules (roll cage etc if your car is fast enough) You don't need a special license. You must bring your drivers license with you though.

Helmet is a must and it must be of Aust standard. Long sleeve shirt and pants while racing is also a must. If your Z is 11 seconds or slower then you don't need anything done to it. I sure won't be needing any of the other mods that are required for such a vehicle.

    and also

it's only 1/4 mile racing. Not circuit

Don't you need to cable tie your oil filter or something? It's been at least 10 years since I last did this but remember having to do it. Might have been a different strip though. Also something about catching the water from overflow. I need a better memory

Thanks , so quarter mile times and i won't need a roll cage ( thingers crossed ).
Don't like the idea of giving the car a hiding but would be fun to see what she can do without worrying about cops i guess. I will see how i'm going for time as it gets closer.

    No you don't need to

I think bikes still have to have lock wired oil caps. But cars don't have to have anything tied up. There is roll cages, drive shaft loops, and chutes but these are all for 11sec cars or faster.

As for the water from the overflow. You are kind of right. It states that there must be a overflow for the radiator. Well we have that from the factory so all good. The other main thing they will look at when you pop the hood is that the batt is tied down. All the rules are on the heathcote park site. so if you have any other questions have a squiz :)

Running your car? or just watching?

Running it, eventually. They dried one lane and started for the first time about 2.30 ish, it started drizzling again.
Only a few cars had gone through ( one of them mostly sideways  ) before they stopped us while they checked the online weather radar
and their insurance policy then had a quick word with God. Then they dried that lane again.

Finally got my first run around 4.00 PM. And I do mean FIRST RUN, this is the first time I've ever done this sh!t.
Addicted now, can't wait for the next fix :D:D:D

They let us keep playing until 5.00 PM ( supposed to have finished at 4.00 ) so I got 5 more runs in.
About 10 of us had the track to ourselves, most guys had buggered off home much earlier in the day.
Now I'm back at home drinking beer and figuring out ways to go faster. All of which involve spending money :p

so was it easy to get the hang of?

    Times? :)

Apart from the first run on a wet track with even wetter undies it was great fun :p

Times? First run - I asked the officials to burn the timeslip, bury the ashes, then quietly shoot everyone who
was involved in the printing and burning and burial of the slip. It was that bad

But rather than crap on about myself in a Coming Events thread I'll start another thread.
One hint for you - by the end of the day some of the officials were referring to my Zed as the nanna-mobile

Short version for new members who are thinking of trying this for the first time, regardless of your age - JUST DO IT :):):)

    Just checked Whereis...

...looks like the Hume would be the best, I haven't been there before though so I'm sort of waiting for any locals who have to pick a spot and we'll be there.
Bit hard being the Hume though might just make my own way up there!

We can meet at Shell on the Hume hwy in Donnybrook (corner of donnybrook road and hume hwy). Then just take the northern hwy all the way to heathcote.
it's about 1hr30mins from there. What time do we have to be at heathcote? then we can figure out a meeting time.

    Cars in Pieces

Dam I just realized I won't have the car finished by the 30th.
Nothing major (retint tail lights, final bog of rear wing, attach bog n spray skirts) and am past the half way mark but School Hol's activities have slowed me down this week....
Will be looking good for "The Goldfields" run though.
    Srry Guys!
