Ok as some may remember i fried my engine wiring harness / loom back in April. Since then i have been trying to replace the loom. I have found a loom and hopefully be receiving this sometime early next week. Depending on the condition of the loom i will be replacing any broken connectors. i beleive i have fried my ecu and also my ptu. Will be getting the ecu and the ptu with the wiring loom.

When i fried the loom i also had a wire disintegrate under the fuse box the 'ENG CONT'. Underneath the fuse box there is one wire going into or going out from one side of the fuse. can anyone tell me where the wire comes in from and where it goes to? i will have to replace the wire as its not there.

I found a 2nd hand engine loom which had most of the connectors broken. as my previous loom had some of the connectors replaced i replaced them myself. I have a pretty good understanding of the electricals. I soldered the connectors in (i cut the first wire and soldered it in place, then cut the second one then i did the same for the third) no idea how i shorted it!!! i doubled checked it before moving on!:mad: when i started the car i had a fuse that blew on the driver side fuse box IGN SKID CONT fuse. Does anyone know if this would blow if not wired correctly?

I would like to have these problems fixed before putting in the engine wiring loom, ecu and ptu or do you think this will be fine to put in? i just dont want to replace them again!

I live in Redlands (Queensland) so if anyone who have knowledge come around and have a look that would be great! Do you think i should have a tech day at mine next Saturday (29th August) around 12ish? Ive never been to a tech day before so any info that would be great to!

Any help will be much appreciated!

    John

    If your

not sure mate, take it to a auto electrician, because most people here wont be able to help, its a hands on job, and you'll need people on site who know what there looking at to help if your set on replacing it yourself, because trying to describe what to do over the net is almost impossible. If you've burnt the loom, fried the ecu, ptu ect, "I have a pretty good understanding of the electrics . I soldered the connectors in" I'd say you're best and safest bet is an auto electrician. If your lucky the coil packs may have survived, check them out.
The manual has a complete diagram of all the under bonnet wiring, it's in the technical section here.

That's very optimistic, this could become a very expensive endeavour. Just forewarning you...
