    Hey guys,

Just wanted a quick bit of advice...

My Zeds steering/suspension and associated bushings are all shot and I want to get everything sorted out before I put the car up for sale.

What do you guys think about the combination of these three sets?

I then also need to fix the steering rack as the boots are split. Is this as simple as replacing the boots? or do I need to replace the mechs inside as well?

I will then get some new tyres and an alignment and should be ready to go?

    Cheers,

    Dan.

The bushing kit is probably a good move(although the Energy Suspension Kit is a much preferred option IMHO).

Forget the eBay Control Arms and Tension Rods combo, you would be better to use Tune Agent or similar(for strength and safety).
Don't waste money on the eBay chrome Front Upper Control Arms(as this style of arm has always been a compromise)and has given very mixed results.
The "NEW" UAS U/C Arms are the best currently available and at the moment, they are the ONLY type that addresses the problems associated with ALL other styles(including OEM).:zlove::zlove:

FYI if you are getting all those pillowball suspension parts you would not need most of the bushes in the energy suspension kit. A lot of redundant stuff, do one or the other.

Factor who is doing the work, if you are doing it all yourself so you can selling the car off, I would do the bushing kit only.

No doubt, I would love a set of these arms but they are 3-4x the price of the midori style copies. For someone who is just looking to sell the car I doubt that's what he is after.

I would only fix what is wrong, no point throwing money at a Zed you are selling... You can get most of hte bushes that you would need from local Auto stores at a reasonable price.

The bush kits take a LOT of work to fit, installation of the Energy Suspension master kit is well over $1k if you can't DIY. Also that kit doesn't include any of the rear hub or arm bushes.

I wouldn't spend the money on the adjustable arms if it's getting sold, get eccentric bolts as a cheap way out if you need it. Those arms appear identical to the tuneagent ones, most of that gear comes out of the same factory... Also it can be a bit of a bastard to do a wheel alignment with everything being overly adjustable. I lined mine up with the original arms before fitting and it was still all over the shop.

Replacing the boots is just a case of removing the outer tie rod ends and pulling the old boots off then putting the new ones on, easy :)

    Cheers for the advice guys,

(For Chili) Completely agree and I had the UAS kit on my upgrade list... If I was keeping the car I would be looking at going down a slower and more 'improvement' based path. As I am going to sell shortly I would like to simply get everything fixed and the car handling properly again so the new owner doesn't get any nasty shocks when they get their first service.

It seems like it might be a toss up between the ease of installing control arms and tension rods vs the time installing a full bushing set. Although I could do the work all myself I think I might have to get someone to do it all in one go due to time constraints, so I need to factor this in.

Based on your advice I might go for something along these lines:

    - Tuneagent tension rods or similar
    - Specific bushings for those bits I know are rooted (or Energy kit if it works out cheaper to get the lot)
    - Dust Boots for steering rack
    - 4x tyres (Damn 18x 275s on the rear!)
    - HICAS lock bar (if I need it for the back)
    - Labour

That sound like a decent compromise if you were looking at buying this car?

    Cheers guys,

    Dan.

I would just replace what is actually rooted.

steering dust boots cost nothing and you can use generic ones from repco and just zip tie them at the ends.

as for bushes, IMO it's actually easier to replace all the arms and rods etc which need bushes with the solid pillowball stuff.

i'm going to assume you only need the basics like tension rods, front and rear upper arms and rear toe arms. it'll be cheaper to just buy all these parts, chuck em on and be done with it. can be done in half a day if you don't mind sparing a saturday or sunday.

He asked for advice Mike(he didn't ask whether he should spend money on a car he intended to sell)and that's exactly what I provided...ADVICE about the pictured items.:p:zlove:

If I was the new owner, I would be stoked at finding all the new gear fitted to my purchase(given that the usual discovery is all the things that are rooted and need replacing).
You are either a very rare individual(and deserving of much kudos)or you are completely nuts.
    I won't make a value judgment on which.:p:rofl:

Good luck with the sale, mate.:zlove::zlove:
