Hey guys im new member here and i know people have already posted about thsi subject but i cant find it! anyways i just wanted to know why my hicas lights always on i just brought the car its a 1990 twin turbo auto so if anyone can help would be good thanks
its full to the top man and it does have a powersteering leak tho would that trigger it off? if not im stumped
The HICAS light has two functions, notifying a fault in the system being the obvious one. The other one is as a low power steering fluid indicator. When does your HICAS light come on? HICAS doesn't work under 80kmh so if it comes on every time you start the engine, I suggest the low fluid warning circuit has a problem. Give the float in the reservoir a bit of a jiggle and see if the light goes out. If the HICAS light comes on when driving over 80kmh you might have one of those strange oddities. My Blue Zed will show the HICAS light after about three minutes driving over 80kmh and it stays on until I shut down the engine and restart. It has been doing it for 4 years and I have got quite used to it. Never found a fault or a cure. If your steering wheel was put on one tooth out that would cause it, as the steering position sensor would tell the ECU that you are permanently going around in circles and throw an error. My steering position sensor and steering wheel alignment are fine but I still have the light. I think there is a HICAS test diagnostic (see the Tech section) but I have never tried it.
Soon as a start my car the hicas lights on.. my power steering fluid is full ive checked that twice so yeah might just be a dodgey thing in the car i dunno its just annoying knowing there might be soemthing wrong with the car haha
hey man i tried what u said and it worked the hicas lights gone thanks heaps man just gave the float a jingle and all gone!
