Gday all Havin a few issues with a strut brace i bought off ebay It said on the packaging it was for a 1990-1998 Z32 300ZX So i bought it went to fit it and it's goes up in the middle and hits my bonnet I can close it but it sits a bit proud on the passenger's side is there something i can do to the bonnet without cutting into it to make it fit? or is there a bonnet that has that extra clearance? thanks!
The problem is it's a ebay bar, they never fit. You really need a Carbing or UAS to guarantee a good not interferance fit. Costed accordingly
Do you have a picture? Do you have the under-bonnet sound deadner? Sometimes that is required to be removed, to make for more clearance.
Hmm I think my "carbing" replica from the forum group buy is knocking on the passenger side a bit too...since that side of the bonnet is not sitting flush to the edge of the front quarter panel. Have removed the sound deadener stuff...and there does seem to be a spot where the paint has rubbed off under the bonnet. Might dremel out that small spot...shouldn't weaken the bonnet much at all I guess.
I have one in the convertible. Fits fine. Then I bought another one from US ebay and tried to put it in the silver TT. Same problem. Cannot close the bonnet. The mounts are identical to those in the convertible, and I have swapped the bars over. Identical too. Still does not fit in the TT. I'll have another go in the TT when I get time. If it fits in one zed, it should fit in another.
what happened to that ebay strut brace u had chris, ihad my name on it, but ash never picked it ip for me
Gday Thanks all for responses I have removed sound deadener from area of contact it's hitting the T-Junction At the window end of the bonnet right in the middle gonna try maybe denting the crossmember of the bonnet to allow the bonnet to close properly thanks
Good luck.. i got mine from qik300... mine seems to give a TINY bit of contact to the bonnet but not much really... fits great otherwise.. issue may be the ebay part of it unless it was a quality strut bar being resold on ebay... meh... As for the bonnnet.. mine had a similar issue... only because the latch got stuck one day so i had to pry the bonnnet up slightly LOL.. good luck and hope it works out ok for you in the end
