    hey guys

just wondering if there was any known faults to do with the steering getting stiff and sometimes feeling like its "popping" when turning? I had it up on a hoist with a mate and we came to the conclusion that it may be the seals on the arms sliding around and then getting stuck and when turning it pushes them out again causing the "pop".
    Any tips/help would be awesome.

    Thanks
    Rhys

You have checked your power steering fluid level in the resevoir haven't you?
Secondly, i'm not really sure about the 'pop' noise at such, but bent suspension arms can definitely cause creaking. Is the steering uneasy or shakey at highway speed?

    power steering stiff or intermittent.....

power steering control unit under the ecu
variable steering solenoid on the steering rack
    low fluid levels

search "power steering " in the tech section and read

the pop,who knows, get under and inspect is where id be starting :zlove:

its not a popping sound its a popping feeling. the steering is fine at high speeds, no tremor or wobble what so ever. the power steering is intermittent, sometimes its perfect and sometimes it gets stiff.

i had the same problem. it was the swivel joint that connects the steering column to the steering rack. mine was old and rusty and didnt hardly bend in one of its axis. the steering would be fine untill a certain amount of rotation and it got stiff then past that it was fine. becaues that joint only locks up in certain positions.
