Found something odd this morning when i started up the Zed, when i turn my steering wheel on cold start it makes a quite distinct "honking" noise. The ONLY thing i can compare this noise to, is braking hard with wet brake pads/rotors (ie. just after washing your car and wheels). The noise goes away as the engine heats up, however i think i can "slightly" hear it if i turn the wheel all the way and reach the lock on either side.

Checked the power steering fluid, and it seems unusually low, would this be the only thing causing it?

I'm asking cos last night i drove over a brick and heard a pretty loud noise, so i hope i didn't damage anything... No i wasn't being careless, it was actually lodged under the car in front and once it came free i drove straight over it. Pulled over immediately but couldn't see any damage, however there are a few liquid stains on my driveway now...

Yep , start checking all you PS hoses and probably the high pressure line where it joins to the hard line going to your steering rack.(my bet)
I gather you dont have the under car guards in place???

    Cheers

I haven't removed any guards, so whatever isn't there must have been removed by the previous owner. I have plastic guards which cover (from the front) all the way up to the drive belts, that's it.

I'll continuously check my fluid levels until i can get someone to take a look at it - i don't have a jack to use other than the one for changing the tyre, and that just doesn't cut it :/

I had an EXTREMELY small amount of oil leaking prior to the brick (it would pool under the engine but wasn't enough to even make it drip), but other than that nothing. Looks to be only PS fluid leaking on the driveway, so i guess i'll just buy more and top it up... does it matter what kind of PS fluid i buy? In over a year i've never topped any fluids up, it's serviced regualrly enough so it's always done for me lol.

Sadly no gutters here and i live on a main road so i can't park over the verge either... may have to pop by someone's place and use their jack.
