Alright guys.. once again another problem added to the list..

Today we replaced the fuel filter and it fixed the fuel problem with the car jolting back and forth when driving or under pressure.. I also used this recommended engine conditioner which you spray into the throttle bodies which is supposed to clean out the inside.. so it says leave for 5 mins like i did.. then we came back to start it up.. so my sister turned the key over and pumped the accelerator.. it says to keep the car alive and not stall..which was impossible.. every time it stalled.. she would turn it off and repeat.. this was done many times until we though enough conditioner was in the plenum etc.. then it came to mind it wasn't starting up properly due to the AFM not connected.. so we connected the hoses back up to the throttle bodies and bam she started awesome.. no rough idle anymore and fuel seems to be going through like a charm.. so we took for a 1km drive to see how it was running.. and it was sweet.. but now the problem is.. we can hear a winding noise from the engine.. which seems to sound like the starter motor.. so we turned the car off.. and it was still going.. disconnected battery and it stopped.. now the thing is.. everytime we go to connect the batterys pos/neg terminals up.. the car goes to start up by itself? the key aint in the ignition and its got a mind of its own.. my question is.. it seems the starter motor is still working.. but i can't put the battery terminal on without the motor starting up and the starter motor constantly winding until battery terminal is off.. so can anyone help me out on what i should do? or if what i mentioned earlier has caused this problem?.. Car only just got registered and now this happens and can't drive it.. :(.. someone please help asap!

sticking contacts on a starter relay?
located in the drivers side wheel arch. You have to remove the inner guard liner. Pull the Blue relay and try connecting your battery terminal. If it doesnt try to start, remove a blue relay from your engine bay relay compartment for a non-essential item (Air-conditioner or rad/sub fan) See what happens when you replace the relay.

Make sure the car is out of gear with the handbrake on... or in park

nah not as of yet ezzupturbo.. but is it worth doing what you said OZX_320? It wouldnt be the signal wire connected to the solenoid on the starter motor would it? or any of the ignition wires going from the starter motor to the barrel?

It might be a good idea to try out the fix ezzupturbo gave you, before asking for some other solution.

alright i've checked it.. and everything seems connected and fine.. i was talking to someone before and they reckon it could be the wiring to the ignition barrel shorting out? hence when the battery is connected it automatically kicks over and starts the motor? is that what people think it is or?

you pulled your starter relay and tried replacing it? Constantly hitting ignition puts a load on the relay contacts with the inrush current through the contacts, and can cause them to fuse CC.

yeah well.. mines a 2+0.. and you reckon the relay is under the guard.. but hidden behind the guard plastic protector? or is it actually just in the engine bay up next to the ABS, Brake Fluid etc? Cause there is a small row of relays.. and one blue one with a tag thing to pull it out.. but i pulled it out and went to connect the battery up.. and theirs still a spark? so if thats not the relay its under the guard right? (just a pain in the ass at the moment trying to get the plastic guard lining off.

look in Tech section under Starter Motor Relay. Its not located in either the fuse/relay panel at the front of the engine bay, passenger side or the fuse panel at rear drivers side in engine bay.

Manual sates that diagnosis of engine continually turning calls for replacement of Starter Motor Relay, Ignition Switch or Starter Motor Solenoid.

Considering the Starter Motor relay is free to swap out, probably the best way to start. Beyond that, a multimeter is required at least.

yeah have been told.. that it could be ****ed solenoids.. and the starter motor needs to be refurbished.. as when they have fused.. its got constant power.. hence each time i put the positive onto the terminal it sparks as if something is going.. which in this case is the starter motor using the battery power to start itself... which then kicks the motor over.

Check the starter relay as your first point of call.

btw, if your starter is staying engaged while you drove it, and somehow it still works, it is very close to being slagged. It's not designed to spin any faster than 300rpm at the engine.

yeah looks like its the solenoids on my starter motor guys.. just for anyone else having a problem like that for future reference.. so either gotta repair it or get another one if anyone has one?
